PS2 Keyboard not working without ps2 mouse?

This is a discussion about PS2 Keyboard not working without ps2 mouse? in the Windows Hardware category; If i dont plug a ps2 mouse in as well my ps2 keyboard does not work in win2k pro. Can anyone help? Also has anyone got the intellipoint software to work in win2k? I have a intellimouse explorer. .

for the intellitype software, you must download the latest version (i think 3.1a) from microsoft

Actually, I'm experience the opposite problem -- my Logitech Trackman (PS2) will not be detected unless my PS2 keyboard is plugged in. I prefer using my USB Natural kb.

Clues, anyone? I know it *can* work -- it was before, but it stopped.
