Realtek card & hibernation
This is a discussion about Realtek card & hibernation in the Customization Tweaking category; I have a realtek ethernet nic. I had the microsoft drivers for win2k pro and it told me hibernation would not work because of these drivers. I now have the realtek 8029 drivers for win2k installed and still get the same message.

Hibernation and ACPI rarely work in W2K. I have seen very few people who reported flawless ACPI support and no BSODs at shutdown...
Very few people indeed...

This problem has nothing to do with ACPI, it is the RealTech driver that is causing the problem. Most likely the same driver is being used with both cards, therefore you have the same problem. I'd suggest getting a non-RealTech chipset NIC.
My system is ACPI and has no problems with any sleep states running Win2k. Shuts down fine too.

I have a Realtek NIC as well. Win 2K automatically detect it and configure it. Have no problem with shutdown, restart, logoff, etc.
My system can go hybernation but it won't wake up after that. But I have no problem going hybernation. Well, I have confirmed that the problem is due to Supermicro BIOS. They planned to release it to the public after their extensive testing.

I have the same NIC, ACPI system, no probs with hibernation standby, you name it, all works flawlessly.
I've used it with both MS and realtek drivers.

Same for me here!
I use a Realtc RTL 8139A based NIC!
No probs with Standby,Hibernate or Shutdown!
Have used MS-Drivers as well as new realtek Drivers!
IΒ΄m using Gigabyte BXE Mobo with latest BIOS!

Hey you must have read my mind...!
I was going to post something about the RealTek8029(AS) not hibernating....(that's what Win2k is complaining about).
I downloaded the new drivers, still won't hibernate. I confirmed that it was the card by removing the card in Device Manager and doing hibernate...and it works. My mobo is Abit BX6 2.0 btw.
