C&C Red Alert

This is a discussion about C&C Red Alert in the Windows Games category; I used apcompat. exe and the game installed just fine. But when I try to run the win95 version then it runs in a extrymely low resolution and then it gives me some weird error and thats all. The dos version works fine but its low res and the win95 version is supposed to run at the res at which my desktop is set.

hmm...it's been a long while since I played Red Alert...3 years I think...but from what I remember, isn't there a setup program in Red Alert where you set the resolution for the game? you should run this and set the resolution before you run Red Alert.
but then again, I could be wrong. check it out.

Yea there is and it works but I still get a error right after the game starts reading the cdrom to play the into movie. But Red Alert always ran at the desktop resolution in win98.

Red Alert doesn't work under W2K. I contacted Westwood concerning this and they know about the problem but have no plans of supporting it. Evidently, DirectX 7 in Windows 2000 is not completely compatible with versions used in 95/98. This is why some DirectX games refuse to behave.

Well I guess ntcompatible.com needs to update their records because it says it works fine. ;/
