refresh rates in games
This is a discussion about refresh rates in games in the Windows Games category; under win98 i changed the refresh rates on all modes (800x600, 1024x768) to 100hz just by setting it correct on the desktop. now, under win2k, i can't do that. no matter what refresh rate i set in the desktop, as soon as it starts up a game (i.

now, under win2k, i can't do that. no matter what refresh rate i set in the desktop, as soon as it starts up a game (i.e. unrealtourmament), it defaults it to 60hz. damn annoying. when i quit the game, its 100hz on the desktop again.
what can that be?

execute dxdiag found in winnt\system32 subdirectory. don't know the english word for the tab you should switch to, since i think you are a german user try "Weitere Hilfe" and click on "Außer Kraft setzen..".
Now change to "Wert für Außerkraftsetzung" and put in your desired refresh rate. note: refresh rate is set for ALL resolutions so check if your monitor can handle them.

k, thanks. just found out a work-around that will also work for opengl games:
edit the .inf file of the driver so that it only supports the refresh rate you want, i.e. 100hz.
then reinstall that driver.
