According to MS Knowledge base, it only works on Win9x and Win NT/Server 3.51 and 4.0
Until MS States it works on W2K, or someone tells us otherwise, best not use it.
As with Win95 to Win98, the register can contain keys and hives that W2K has, but Win NT doesn't.

I have used regclean since day one, no problems at all in win2k

I have to admit, I've never actually tried to use Regclean on W2K.
I'm about to install a second copy of W2K on my system anyhow for mucking about with, and I'll use Regclean on this just to see what the effects are..
I'll keep you posted..

I've been using Regclean for a few months on Advanced Server 2195, no problems so far. In fact, I think it's doing a good job. First time I ran it, the size of the repair file was roughtly 30KB.
