SBLive sound problems from interrupt sharing ?
This is a discussion about SBLive sound problems from interrupt sharing ? in the Windows Hardware category; Hi, I am using Win2000 and have problems with my SB Live (clicks and other noises). I think the problem is that interrupt 9 is shared by 7 devices. The OS reports no conflicts, probably because all drivers support interrupt sharing.
Hi,
I am using Win2000 and have problems with my SB Live (clicks and other noises).
I think the problem is that interrupt 9 is shared by 7 devices.
The OS reports no conflicts, probably because all drivers support interrupt sharing. But i think 7 devices using one interrupt may be a bit too much.
I have an Asus CUBX motherboard and the 7 devices are:
- ACPI
- V3 2000
- CMD PCI-IDE66 controller
- SB-Live
- USB
- Kingston Ethernet 100Mbit
- Symbios SCSI adapter
I tried to force the SB-Live using another interrupt by manually setting the interrupt for its PCI-slot to Int5 and disabling PNP OS. But I had no success, Win2000 just reinstalled the SB-Live using the same Int9.
I also can't change the interrupt in the hardware manager manually, probably because its a PNP card (yes i have administrator rights).
It would be great, if someone has an idea how to force the SB-Live to use another interrupt.
Also interesting for would be if interrupt sharing between 5 or more devices is common and whether they also have sound proplems.
Thanks for any tips,
Crazzy
