Scanjet 5p + symbios 53416 SCSI + w2k = BSOD
This is a discussion about Scanjet 5p + symbios 53416 SCSI + w2k = BSOD in the Windows Hardware category; BSOD = Blue screen of death I've got a HP Scanjet 5p that came bundled with a symbios 53416 ISA SCSI card. Unfortunately I get the BSOD on boot up of w2k with the SCSI card plugged in. I don't suppose anyone has got these two working, or could maybe recommend a cheap SCSI card as an alternative? Regards John.

Top tip: Don't get a cheap SCSI card...
Invest in an Adaptec...maybe it'll cost you 100 bucks or so, but it'll work with everything, forever...

LOL!! how ture that is even I made few bad choose in my day's, I never buy another symbios chipset. Symbios chipset has more in compatibility problem then any other SCSI card out there.
Too right. First SCSI card I bought was a 2940 PCI UW, and then I decided to get a Supermicro P6DBS with on-board dual UW-SCSI
All the above have worked with EVERYTHING - Win95, Win98, NT3.x, NT4.x, W2K, Linux ( RH5.2 & 6.0), BeOS 4.5 - all out-of-the-box.
Adaptec - Just Do It!
