Slow network browsing!

This is a discussion about Slow network browsing! in the Windows Networking category; Why does it take so long time for win2k pro, to browse the network? Have a 100 MBit network using tcp/ip and netbeui! It takes far more longer time than in win98/winnt4, with the same hardware. Does anyone have a suggestion?.

Turn off TCP/IP Netbios helper under services. I had the same prob (NT4 and 2000), although it's still not quite as fast as 98 browsing the network, it's definately tollerable.

I got a reply from one of the MS newsgroups saying that it was a known bug - and that its looking for the "Task Schedule Share".

To be fixed in SP1 ?

So, I've been living with the problem. I've since just mapped drives to other computer in the network.
