This is a discussion about Speed up Games in Win2K - THIS WORKS !!! in the Windows Hardware category; I have found a great way to speed up games in windows2000. i usually play at 1024x768 and my level of access is Administrator. Creat a new account and give it power user privileges, also knock down the res to 800x600, (you dont notice any major difference) You will find that games run A LOT faster.

It works wonders for my s.hitey spec -
AMD K6-2 450Mhz
nVidia TNT2 M64
64Mb PC100 RAM

well i could see how being a poweruser would help because it isnt loading as many things as the admin account does. As for the res, if you have a GeForce 2 GTS or similar i doubt people would want to forgoe their 1200x1000 resolutions to 800x600
