System Memory Performance Problem

This is a discussion about System Memory Performance Problem in the Windows Hardware category; I have a Soyo K7VTA (VIA Chipset) board running a Thundirbird 1ghz processor with 384mb of pc 133 ram on a win2k platform. My problem is that I am getting marks comparable to a PIII 600 in the memory benchmark section of SiSoft Sandra (I know that sandra isn't meant for 2000).

I have a Soyo K7VTA (VIA Chipset) board running a Thundirbird 1ghz processor with 384mb of pc 133 ram on a win2k platform. My problem is that I am getting marks comparable to a PIII 600 in the memory benchmark section of SiSoft Sandra (I know that sandra isn't meant for 2000). I was wondering why this might be. I have been noticing that my computer doesn't seem to respond like a 1ghz should. I did have a problem with my hard drive (Western Digital Caviar? 30gb 7200rpm UATA 100) having slow access speeds. I found a sit e that told me how to fix this through the registry. It has bumped the transfer speed way up. I thought that was my problem but I'm still experiencing the general slowness. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks.

OP
What kind of hard drive do you have? If you have a Western digital I can go find the web Address for you of that fix that I found. The hard drive problem was only with the VIA chisets.
