The Sims - Crash without any Message

This is a discussion about The Sims - Crash without any Message in the Windows Games category; I installed The Sims with no Problem under Windows 2K RC2. After a while of playing, it returns to my desktop without any message. When I look in the Event Viewer, there's the following Message: Error 7 \Device\Cdrom0 Bad block at XXXXXXXX What does this mean? Is the CD broken? I've got a CD-Rom and a DVD-ROM.

What does this mean? Is the CD broken? I've got a CD-Rom and a DVD-ROM. The same error occured, when I only got one Device connected doesn't matter in which Drive I've put the Sims-CD. Is the IDE Cable maybe broken?
I've got an Athlon 500, MS6167 BIOS 1.5, 64MB PC100 RAM, TEAC S32 32x Atapi CD ROM, Creative Labs 6x DVD with Dxr3 Mpeg 2 Card.
Thanx for any help
