Thief 1 - for the last time
This is a discussion about Thief 1 - for the last time in the Windows Games category; hi. . . . i need help again. . . . thief 1 will install without needing to use -lgntforce. it will not start but instead dumps me back to the desktop. . . i can start it with apcompat but when i start the game im back at the desktop & theres no sound either im running win2k with the compat patches installed.

ive tried this with thief 1.1.4 & 1.33 .same result
the machine is
p3 500
512mb ram
1 geforce ddr latest nvidia drivers 3.78
2 voodoo2 1000's
so if anyone can finally help me fix this

Christ! How many video cards?
I'm sorry the compatability patch didn't work, but i'm running Thief, Thief Gold and Thief 2 under Windows 2000 Pro on a 16MB Voodoo 3 with no probs at all!
If you upgrade to Thief Gold (with the fantastic extra levels) and run d:\(or your relevant cd/dvd-rom letter) setup.exe- lgntforce (and don't forget the space after the dash) it runs fine.
I'm not so sure how it will run under your possibly over-specced specs!

his video cards are not that ridiculous.... remember, voodoo2's are 3d only, and are able to run side-by-side (SLI mode). Then you still must have a card for 2d, hence the geforce. Of course, I would use the geforce for everything that did not require glide.....

yeah i forgot to mention apart from the
vid cards theres a sound card & ana adaptec
2940uw scsi controller so basically all my
slots are full now....
however i just purchased thief gold & hope
that will work
let me know if u guys have any ideas..
