Namely, I NEED TO KNOW HOW STABLE THIS RUNS. I've uses Win2k PROF and Adv Ser, and BOTH crash with an NTOSKRNL.exe error.
I never had this with my 440BX chipset PIII...
Anyone that has a system like mine, as well as an i815e mobo, can you give me a comparison?
Please give me info

i815 suxs.
Go for i840. You can choose either SDRAM or DDR. It's a dual board too. That's what I'm lookin' at. 933 dual goodness.

OP
Ok...there's also an i820...All I want is single processor. ALthough I'll probably run Adv. Ser with it(I'm on Pro for now)...I've no true use for dual PIII 850's
So, for a single processor intel-based board...what should I go for?
I'm looking at the CUSL2 and the CUC2 from Asus....as well as others...
Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated .

I'm looking at the ASUS CUSL2 also. With its ability to use PC100 or PC133 RAM plus the number of PCI slots, I've been wanting it for a couple of weeks.
The bad news is that finding a vendor that has one might be the hardest thing. I'm a computer consultant and can and do buy directly from multiple distributors, but they are already allocated on the motherboard. I also have a link to the egghead.com page and check it everyday to see if they get it in stock (cause they're just drop-shipping from Ingram-Micro.)
HTH.

OP
I went out and bought the CUSL2 for $166 today. No audio, so maybe that will fix one of my problems*frequent sysaudio.sys error*.
Now, anyone with this mobo, or an i815e mobo, can you tell me how STABLE it is, as compared to a VIA KX133 chipset mobo?(my K7V being the basis if aplicable)

Where'd you find it - is my question? I'm sure that I'll have to mail-order one (since I live in a super large town of 50,000), so where can I find one?
TIA!
TIA!

OP
I called down to a local computer store asking if they had the capability of ordering mobos from ASUS, and they said yes...I asked them about a CUSL2, they said they had one in stock, and I told them not to sell it, I'd be in there soon
I just lucked out on it Especially since, had I not called in and told them to hold it, half an hour before I got there(I had class), someone came in and was wanting to buy it.
But it's in my closet now, waiting for me to find the money to buy a CPU(which is now a longer wait, as I had to buy a new hdd today, my 1 GB Seagate died, so I bought a 15GB ATA-100 ).
Which brings me to a question:
Can an ATA(UDMA)-100 hdd run off the UDMA/66 at the 100 mark, or do I need to find a UDMA/100 cable for it?

CPUs are easier to find for me than that motherboard! I know where to get Intel Boxed Processor - 800EBs, and 866s no probs. But that motherboard is a different story.
The 815e chipset that's on the CUSL2 is ATA100 capable, and there's no difference between an ATA66 and ATA100 cable. BTW, you will only see very small performance differences between an ATA66 and an ATA100 drive (right now.) In fact, AFAIK, the hds out there are really only approaching 37MB/s sustained transfers - which is only slightly better than what ATA33 specs.
For more information (where I found it...), go to www.storagereview.com - they really have it together in explaining hd performance and differences.
Later!

OP
I can find the CPUs...just not for a decent price.
I want at least 800mhz, any higher would of course be great, but I MUST have 133mhz FSB for it.
I want RETAIL as well, for the 3 year warranty.
Finding these for around or under 300, though..that's the hard part.
I can find plenty of CUSL2's...just not the CPUs for them

I think you would be better off [for the money] going with a PIII 733. After that speed, they jump in price. It has the 133MHz FSB. My friend got one for about $260, from egghead.com, I think.
