I upgraded from w2k to xp pro. I was using iis 5 & pers web server in w2k. Upgrading, the program upgraded to to a newer version of iis & no pws. My main web files work fine, but my sub-web which is an asp. based site using an access db is super S L O W. Am using my own server to test & build an e-commerce web. Any suggestions ?

Have you tried checking your task manager while another machine was hitting your webpages to see if dllhost.exe (ASP hosting process) is spiking really hard during requests? Have you picked up the latest updates from Windows update? Also, when you say "upgraded" did you upgrade from an existing installation or format and install the new OS on the blank partition?

I am not using my machine on the net, am only using for testing purposes before ftp'ing to host. I upgraded ( not new ) over my existing w2k, ntfs. Reading manufacturers info on web store, they mentioned NOT CACHING on server while running an asp program. Where, or how , do I check for this parameter ?

Caching can be adjusted through the Ineternet Services Manager Console, and then right clicking on the site and selecting properties. However, whether or not you are hosting it online has no bearing on my question, as you will still need to run that process to host classic ASP pages. If the process is stalling out, then you could probably start trying to isolate the issue from there. Also, do you have your system all patched up from Windows Update?

Go to Windows Update and get all of the critical updates there, that would be a good place to start. Also, check the logs for the site (look in the site properties for their location) to see if you have any unusual activity, such as a large amount of requests coming in using extended ASCII text.

I upgraded security to high & set " do not cache asp programs ".
It actually started to show an asp generated page, than disconnected saying server had too many requests, even though
i am not online....Thankfully, until I get this figured out, I am using my old HD with w2k pro to update & test my e-store..Looking for suggestions or an article on how to set up & run an iis5.1 server with an asp site...Thanking anyone for suggestions, Tom
