video cards

This is a discussion about video cards in the Windows Games category; Hi, I'm using a voodoo3 on win2k, but am unimpressed. The voodoo3 performs the same as my Banshee does. So I was planning on getting a TNT2 ultra, and am just wondering if I can expect significant improvement.

Hi,
I'm using a voodoo3 on win2k, but am unimpressed. The voodoo3 performs the same as my Banshee does. So I was planning on getting a TNT2 ultra, and am just wondering if I can expect significant improvement. Will the TNT2 run as fast as win98, or should I just go back to win98?

A lot of things are at stake here...what CPU u have? If it's below a PIII-500, all cards will perform kinda the same...esp. with an AMD CPU (K6-2/3).

I would go hogwild and just get a GeForce type card...anyways, you might want to try the wickedgl driver...It has boosted the performance of voodoo based cards in windows, and might help you get some better results w/o having to upgrade yet...don't have the site on hand, but it is easy to find

If u are going to buy a new card now, don't go for anything less than a GeForce, in power I mean. Buying a TNT2 now, with GeForce2 and ATIs Radeon out/on the way would be a waste of money. Games are already taking advantage of the new technology they offer, and a TNT2 would bew out of date pretty quick I think!
