w2k and samba 2.05

This is a discussion about w2k and samba 2.05 in the Windows Software category; Bummer - seems w2k build 2031 breaks samba 2. 05 for linux. Since 2. 05 is the latest source available for linux I would suggest that you forget about having smb available until either samba builds a fix or MS fixes the problem.

Bummer - seems w2k build 2031 breaks samba 2.05 for linux. Since 2.05 is the latest source available for linux I would suggest that you forget about having smb available until either samba builds a fix or MS fixes the problem. At first glance it would appear that you can get a dir of the remote filesystem but everything else is broken bad. ie cd , copy , etc etc.

If anyone else is having this problem and knows a fix message me on it here. Mucho appreciato.

btw - Since I know this question will arrise somewhere down the line for those that are trying to access a samba filesystem: You need to enable plain text passwords in w2k or enable password encryption in samba.conf
To enable plain text passwords in w2k edit the reg for : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

and add the following dword value:

EnablePlainTextPassword Val=1
