Why did everyone wait

This is a discussion about Why did everyone wait in the Windows Hardware category; So why did all the manufactures wait until the release of Win2K before releasing their drivers. Has anyone else noticed how many new drivers have come out since the 18th, surly they could have released them earlier in anticipation of the release, its not as if the release date of Win2K has been a secret.

I bet its some sort of legality between ms and the hardware vendors. Or maybe they were just lazy and used the release date as an excuse
