Why win2k is loosing my modem?

This is a discussion about Why win2k is loosing my modem? in the Windows Hardware category; I have external 33. 6 modem and i have istalled it as standard 33600 modem. But almost every day win2k looses it. . . in modem options there is only 33600 standard modem and attached to field there is NONE (it should be com2).

you MUST have the modem switched ON when you turn on the machine, or 2k will not know it's there. it sucks ass I know, but it's like that.... and that's the way it is!

Yes that was the reason. Thank you, now I know that it is not my modems fault.

... or you can switch on modem->go to device manager->right click in modems->scan for hardware changes-> that's it! still doesn't know an easier way like make win2k assume your modem is always switched on...
