Win2K keeps locking up after installing drivers.
This is a discussion about Win2K keeps locking up after installing drivers. in the Customization Tweaking category; I have just installed Win2k on drive D, I am doing a dual boot of Win98SE and win2k. After I install a new driver, I get the Blue Screen of death in Win2k KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED 0x0000001E It did this aftre installing my Asus v6600 drivers, my Hollywood + drivers, my Adaptec 29160 drivers.

My system is as follows; Asus K7V bios Rev. 1007.01a beta
700 Mhz Athlon Classic
Adaptec 29160
2-Seagate Cheatah 18XL
Asus V6600 Deluxe GeForce
SBLIVE paltinum
Hollywood+
3Com 56k Modem
Hauppauge Win Tv-D
Iomega Zip 250 Internal Atapi
Plextor 12/4/32 SCSI
Plextor 40X CD Rom SCSI
Pioneer 16X DVD Atapi
256 MB PC133 Micron Memory
My drives are set up as follows;
SCSI ID:0 Drive C: Win98SE 8.75 Gig
Drive D: Win2K 8.75 Gig
SCSI ID:! Drive E empty (to use for Win98Se
Drive F empty(to use for Win 2K
I am about to reformat both drives and start from scratch. What is the best way to partition each HD-size wise foreach OS and program files. I was planning on using 1 HD for Win98SE and 1 HD for Win2k
Each drive with only 1 partition on it
SCSI ID:0 Drive C
SCSI ID:1 Drive D
Would this be the best way, or should I partition each hard drive with more that 1 partition? What are the advantages of using more than 1 partition on each HD.I have gottrn into the desktop of WIN 2k and really like the interface and operation of it, I just need to know how to setup all of m hardwar on it so it wont crash or lock up. ALL help is greatly apprciated.

I had the same problem, I installed Win2k Server, then installed the motherboard drivers, and when I restarted, I got the evil bluescreen. I wasn't sure why, but I decided to try Win2k Pro instead, and it worked fine without the MB drivers. I have since installed all of my sound and video driver with no problems.
I would suggest not installing your Mb drivers, unless you get them from their site, and they say specifically that they are W2K compatible.
At long last, I can finally play Quake3.
