Win2k w/ Com Ports Don't Work!

This is a discussion about Win2k w/ Com Ports Don't Work! in the Windows Hardware category; I have a dual boot w/ win98 and win2k. While waiting for my usb modem drivers to come out from BestData I thought I use my normal usr 56k in win2k. To find out, com port 1 and com port 2 do not work, they have a (!) symbol by them.

Hy, do you have a Asus Mainboard??

You need the newewst Bios Version.
I had the same Problem. Now, my Com-Ports works fine.

If you don't want to do the bios thing, disable ACPI, by up[censored] the drivers from the computer device in system properties (win+break) to "standard PC" which you'll find by picking it from the list of available devices after pressing "update driver"
