Windows 2000 is the best OS I've ever used
This is a discussion about Windows 2000 is the best OS I've ever used in the Windows Hardware category; I've been using Windows 2000 for a month now, and I must say it's the best OS I've used to date. I use it for everything, games, all my apps, whatever! Works like a SOB. Only thing that I'm waiting on is my Dxr3 card.

Only thing that I'm waiting on is my Dxr3 card. Do I care? no. Am I worried? no Am I impatient? no Will drivers come out for it? YES! Hell yes! That's the ONLY thing (DVD) I use that sorry 98 for now that 2000 is on my system. ALL my games work, and with those new 5.13 Nvidia drivers for my frag-ass GeFORCE, it's as fast (if not faster) than 98. fast, FAST, F A S T!!! You hear that?! FAST! No lockups, no blue screens of death, no glitches! No nothin! The only time I've EVER had to reboot is because I installed the latest drivers for my live! and Geforce! Period! So quit overclocking the **** out of those machines and go do some research of what your system is capable of, or go do some research on what runs on the thing and what "has-been" programs don't! Good job big M, you finally came through for me with a solid, fast, stable OS!
My system
Intel P III 733
Asus P3B-F
256 Meg PC133
GeForce DDR (only card I know of that can handle that 133 MHz FSB/89MHz AGP Bus on a BX board, their maybe others)
SbLive!
Creative DxR3 decoder
3com Internet gaming modem

I agree totally. Windows 2000 has run like a champ for me also. I too am waiting for Creative Labs to release the Dxr3 drivers so my DVD will work right. I had to remove it and put it in another Win98 system. But aside from that Win2k is the best.

Once it works, it's excellent...it may take a bit of fiddling to get some things to work with it but once that's out the way it's stable as anything.
You can get the Dxr3 working under Windows 2000, maybe not as good as Win98 but it plays movies...good enough for me

OP
Yeah I'm aware of the Hollywood Plus Beta driver, but I feel compelled to wait. Thanks.

Go here to get your Dxr3 working.
This is how I have done it for the last 50+ times I have installed NT5 on my home machine.
1. Install NT5.
2. Install Hollywood + beta drivers.
3. Put that laxity patch in with the Hollywood + application software.
4. Run the application software install.
5. The I use Zone Selector 4.1 to load up station.exe. It's worked EVERY SINGLE TIME in those exact same steps.
