Work in Progress: War of the Worlds - Setting DX5 version in
This is a discussion about Work in Progress: War of the Worlds - Setting DX5 version in in the Windows Games category; I've taken it upon myself to try to get the GT Interactive Game Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds working under NT4. The game, on standard NT4, complains about Direct X 5 is not installed on this computer, even when you use the Direct X 5 hack that's currently floating around.
I've taken it upon myself to try to get the GT Interactive Game "Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds" working under NT4. The game, on standard NT4, complains about "Direct X 5 is not installed on this computer", even when you use the Direct X 5 hack that's currently floating around. I'm suspicious that the problem is the Direct X version number, which is noted under the DX control panel Icon as being -1, though all the drivers themselves are listed as version 5. I suspect I may be a mere registry tweek away from getting this game working under NT4. Does anyone know how to tweek the registry so it comes up as having a legitimate version 5?
