I have win 2k with 256 megs of ram. IO pages default to 512 K in win2k. . . . is it gonna make a diff pumping this up to 64 megs or 16 megs??? Or is this just a waste of time????.

I have a strange problem with my WIN2000 install. Windows will not complete the boot process, as the furthers that it gets is to the Logon screen/box. After logging on, the WIN 2000 sound comes on but the Windows screen stays blank with only the background color, no icons.

Win2k automaticaly maximizes (most of the time) any program that has done something (Ex: explorer loading a new page,. . . ) How the heck to i turn this off! It's very annoying at times any help is appreciated thnx.

Changing the Command Prompt Font

Kind of a silly question, but is there anyway to get W2K to recognize different font options for the command prompt? I have a few other FON and TTF files installed (some of which support the DOS codepage), but the only options seem to be Raster Fonts and Lucida Console.

SMTP Service wont' start at Boot

I use Windows 2000 Server. I use the built in IIS SMTP server. But it always fails to load at startup. But then i can go manually start it fine once i log in. any suggestions??.

My problem is that I am trying to make Win 2K and Win Me to work together. I have separated my HD in two partitions and installed on the second Win ME in FAT32. After that I installed Win 2K Pro on the first partition converting it to NTFS.

Has anyone used the support tools that come on the Win2K CD? There's one application that emulates previous versions of Windows, possibly allowing things to run that otherwise would not. I'm curious as to how well it works.

nt-4 installation problem

Hi,wonder if anyone has any suggestions for this problem I am having. I am trying to install NT4. 0 as a second O/S together with w98. I bought partition magic 6. 0 to help with the installation and have resized drive c where win 98 is and created a new primary FAT partition for winnt.

bizarre modem problem - please help!

I have installed the 56k voice internal PCI modem into my Windows 2000 system. The modem was successfully recognised and the drivers which were supplied were loaded. The modem is able to dial out. However the first 2 times I tried to dial my ISP it connected with reported rates of 28.

COM3 Conflict with COM2 only on reboot

I have a modem that is located on com3 - works great. If I reboot, there is a conflict with com2. To get everything to work again I have to uninstall com3, reboot and reinstall com3. Everything works fine again.

FSAA in DIRECT3D with WIN2k?

Hello there !!! I have a little problem. FSAA don't work in direct3d games. FSAA works perfectly with Opengl games (Quake3 or Half-life) but doen't work with Direct3d games (Giants or No one lives forever).
