Adventures In Dual Booting

Just wanted to share my experience with setting up a dual booting system. Windows 2000/Windows 98. I have been running windows 2000 for well over a year and really like it; but I do miss being able to play some older games now and then.

WinXP 2600 NTFS or FAT32?

I would appreciate any input. Which is the better all around file system NTFS or FAT32? I heard that NTFS is slower than FAT32 because of all the monitoring extras involved. .

Problem with my Sidewinder software

I have a problem with my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback. The software I have is to Windows 98/ME but I have Windows 2000. Do any of you know if there is and where I can find a patche so I can get it to work at my computer??!! Its the buttoms that are not working when I play GP3.

how do you change it? i really hate it,and display props/desktop/customize desktop doesnt work,works for my comp. and the other stuff,but not for the bin.

Saving Images

Here's my problem, I'm using Windows XP, and whenever I try to save a picture I find on the net, I get this huge delay, like I save my image, and it freezes for like 30 seconds, it's kind of annoying.

Ok. . . So now I've made a 1gig partition and put WinME on that partition. . . it's in the root of my primary HDD. . . that's all working just fine, but now how do I get the dual boot set up? There is no choice to dual boot back into XP now.

Clearing page file at shutdown option

Messing around in the registry, I noticed the option to ClearPageFileAtShutdown. It is set by default to 0 (no). What is the purpose of enabling this feature? Are there any performance advantages/disadvantages in doing do?.

Need help changing the startup Logo...

I'm trying to change the logo when Windows XP starts up, I'm using resource hacker, I made my bitmap and integrate it into the ntoskrnl. exe, but problem is the file is kept getting restored. . . Tried replacing the one in dllcache and system32 folder, it's still being restored.

Explorer.exe constantly maxing out CPU

Almost every few minutes, CPU usage in the task manager goes to 100% & the system freezes up for several seconds. . . on shutdown, the 'Ending Task' window pops up, trying to end Explorer. exe Any thoughts ? This is on XP Pro build 2600 Corp ;-) TIA.

Windows XP - 5 Minute Login

I have done a clean install of Windows XP Professional. When I login to my Windows 2000 Advance Server domain it take about 5 minutes to apply my personal settings. Any ideas? Swap question

How do I tell XP where to set its swap file? I've figured out how to restrict the size, but since I have two hard drives, I want to tell XP to put it's swap file on a partition on second drive. . .
