Looking to upgrade soon - Need some advice!

Hi all, Its been a while since I've posted, but I've been looking around quite regularly. Anyway, I'm looking to ditch my Intel PIII 450 and 440BX board in favour for an AMD Athlon 800 and board. I'm aware of the PSU and memory problems some people have had, but I'm confident mine are ok.

Gimme advice on what CPUs to buy!

Greetings Win2K Gurus. . . Shortly I am going to buy 2 new CuMine Pentium III CPUs for my new MSI 6946 Pro (VIA 133A Chipset) Dual CPU motherboard. I'd prefer to use the 133MHz FSB models, and the minimum CPUs I would consider is a pair of PIII 733's.

New Athlon system problems, but way worse this time...

For 2 days now, my newly acquired Athlon system, which worked great for about a week or so, freezes randomly. I suspected this was due to a lack of cooling or the 235W power supply. So I bought a 300W power supply, 2 additional case cooling fans and a bigger CPU cooler, but it all didn't help.

Network card causing random reboots

My system is perfectly stable, until I enable my second network card. System just up and reboots. . . anyone have any suggestions. I am running Win2k and it's a realtek NIC. I even just did a fresh windows install and still having problem.

Gigabyte 7IXE And Disabled Cache

OK, I've got a Gigabyte 7IXE and an Athlon 550, and on the post page, reading all the details, I seem to have no cache. It says cache - 512K, Disabled Does anyone out there have any clues? I need help.

INTEL AUDIOPCI/64/128 DRIVERS

well, okay. . intel did do one worthwhile thing this week in providing the audio pci/64/128 drivers creative has been refusing to for months now. it re-enables the wavetable sets and the other features the new creative drivers don't.

Im a first time Windows 2000 user and everything work fine. . . up to the video card, I tried every driver possible, both from nvidia directly, and from creatives labs for windows 2000. . . but I always get the same error message This device cannot start.

I've got the Guillemot Maxi Studio ISIS but no drivers for Windows 2000. And Guillemot Support says there won't be any Windows 2000 drivers for this soundcard available and they might possibly develop drivers but they don't know when.

Ultima 9 probs

I just installed Ultima 9 on Windows 2000 final and it starts up, displays a loading screen, screen goes black, flickers, and im back at the desktop. I was having the exact same problem under Windows Millenium and I had no sound card drivers installed, I installed them and now the game runs great in WinME.

VDMSound -- does it work? Yes, with the proper DLLs.

If you had trouble running VDMSound it could be that you were missing a couple of DLLs from Microsoft. Go to for the list of DLLs plus information about how to download them. I apologize for not realizing that at least one DLL does not come as part of the standard Windows distribution.
