Advice from Win2K vets please

I really want to move to Win2K at home, but being an Intel flunky at work(you know how that is), I am loathe to 'try' it on my Athlon. I have heard the horror stories associated with KT133 and Win2K.

Disabling auto dial once and for all?

Hi! I'm using XP beta 2462 and this f****g auto dial dialog always pops out with every boot i'm doing. even after i'm disabling it after the boot it still pops out again every 3-5 minutes. is there a crack or patch for this issue? thx xDacs.

Help With Internet Sharing

With WinXP. Internet sharing works fine but only the host can send/recieve emails. I checked the network settings and i saw some settings for POP3 and SMTP but i don't know what to fill in. I've tried using ip and or computer name but it is still not working.

Hot swapping HDs.

Hey, if you have say a removable HD caddy, and are running 2K. . . is there a way to safely remove it when everything is on? I'm sure there was an option in NT4 that you could check to say it was removable.

HP ScanJet 3200C problem with Windows 2000

(I posted this message to comp. periphs. scanners news group a few days ago and did not receive any encouraging responses) I downloaded the HP PrecisionScan LT 2. 0 software released April 6, 2001, from the HP Web site which states that the software works under Windows 2000 and Windows ME and installed it.

Whistler-Still no CDRWs,no IPX/SPX

Still haven't managed getting my CDRWs read under Whistler. Well the disk is recognized,but when i browse it,it seems to be blank!?!?No UDF reader icon,nothing. These were written with Direct CD. Also tried under Networking/Properties installing IPX/SPX protocoll,but couldn't find it.

Ibm WebCam Locking up Under W2K!!!!

Ok I have a IBM webcam running under W2K with service pack one using the VIA Chipset I believe its tje 133A VIA chipset. I can use the webcam fine, but when I shut it off it complete locks up, I try and shut it down with the task manager but that does nothing, it brings W2K to its knees, I have to turn off my compu ...

Help with AMDK6

I have an AMDK6-2 500Mhz but win2000 seems to only run it at 250Mhz and even in sisoft sandra it is at 250Mhz but i am running WinME also and sisoft sandra on WinME says that it is at 501Mhz. Is this just win2k reporting wrong or is it only using the CPU at this speed? Thanx for any HELP!!! I have Win2000 Professional.

Detonator Driver Update Procedure

I feel utterly retarded asking for this, but does anyone have a specific procedure for up detonator drivers under Win2K that won't produce the System cannot find a specified file crap? One thing I miss about 98SE was the lack of driver problems I had.

Hey, Im overclocking my P3 on a Tyan Trinity via an Asus Slocket adapter. Ive only got the stock cooling on and the current voltage set at 1. 7 volts how far can I push the sucker up in volts before its a major issue?.
