Does anyone know of some nice web resources that detail subnetting? I understand the basics, however there is a lot more that I would like to brush up on. Any advice would be appreciated. The hollidays have me tapped out for a bit, so I'm avoiding buying any books on the subject.

I got a network with 1 winxp computer and 1 win98 computer. I would like to give the win98 PC access to files on the winxp server. Is it possible to do that without enabling the guest access in winxp?.

Help I just bought a Hub to connect my Laptop and Desktop (both running XP) on the laptop everything looks good, except it wont access the net or the desktop the Desktop can access the net, but when I go to view the workgroup on the desktop I get this message: Home is not accessible.

I need to know what the command is to compress a backup using the NT Command line process. I can't seem to find it. The backup utility that comes with NT Server has the checkbox option and it works just fine, but the backups are all scheduled so I need a way to add it to the command line process.

I call OpenFile to access a file across a network, using an IP address. If the network connection is not established, there is an intolerable delay in the response to the Openfile call (45 seconds on my machines).

Im using a USB ADSL modem (Alcatel SpeedTouch) The only drivers i can use are PPP over ATM (PPPoA), when i try to setup NAT and the wizard lists my network adapters, then USB modem isnt listed. However the modem does have a Network Adapters entry in Device manager.

Is it true that Microsoft made another major balls up in XP with a bug that allows people to access your Pc and do anything they want? I dont see how this is possible without some sort of trojan horse but its just what someone told me.

I have two nic and two internet connections each on 10Mbit. one of them has a 100/10 switch attached to it and it seams that all the internet trafik is routed though it as default. I wonder if there is a way to tell windows xp that the default connection should be the one connected to the 10Mbit ?.

A little background. . . Cable modem is connected to LinkSys switch. RoadRunner allocates 3 ip's to each cable modem which makes internet connection alot easier. (Don't have to mess with ICS). 3 Computers, 1 Win2k, and 2 Win98.
Insufficient system resources with User Manager

Using WinNT 4 Server; recently started getting message Insufficient system resources when I open User Manager. If I reboot the server, it goes away for a few days, but then comes back again. It's got plenty of memory, hard drive, etc.
