Thanks Paul for this one:
It would appear that the Promise TX4 IDE RAID controller is NOT compatible with Pentium IV systems.
I purchased one last week and after spending 4hrs attempting to get it up & running I fired off an e-mail to Promise support. They asked me which motherboard I have as they are having a few issues with some but they have a fix in the works. I replied telling them I had an Asus P4T-E. The latest response from Promise technical support is:
Yes you can expect problems on that motherboard. I have no ETA on this fix unfortunately. A workaround would be to use a PentiumIII platform motherboard.
This is a little bit disappointing as the Promise TX4 is Promise's flagship RAID 0, 1, 0+1 card offering 4 independent IDE channels for excellent workstation/small server performance, however if your workstation/small server is running the latest & greatest from Intel then you wont be able to use this card.

PC Stats has posted a Network Cards & Overclocking article
Today we're going to be looking at how Network Cards (NIC's) handle overclocking, and if they might be the thing that's holding you back from getting higher speeds. As you already know, every peripheral in the PCI slots of your computer is linked to the FSB, and when you're going past 133 MHz (with most boards) you're going to be running the PCI bus out of sync. This means the PCI cards will no longer running at their specified speeds - they willl be running faster then the are supposed to.Read more
