GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD6 Motherboard Preview
TweakTown posted GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD6 Motherboard Preview

Back at Computex in June of this year GIGABYTE showed us some of their P55 boards. These new boards will support the new Lynnfield, or as it has been rumoured to be called, Core i5 CPUs from Intel. While Lynnfield is not due for launch until sometime in September, we had the chance to spend some quality time with one of GIGABYTE’s high-end P55 offerings, the GA-P55-UD6.

While these boards will not be 100% ready for some time, especially after the announcement that the Marvell 88SE9123 SATA 6G controller chips will not be on the final production runs, it was still good to get a feel for how these boards will look and feel.

Artic Cooling Accelero XTREME 4870X2 Review
Bjorn3D takes a look at the Artic Cooling Accelero XTREME 4870X2.

We all known Artic Cooling for years now, not just because they have some of the quietest GPU coolers on the planet, but for their uncanny ability to incorporate a stylish design with great cooling capacity. When anyone is looking for a GPU cooler to help cool their video cards Artic Cooling is always one of the first ones to get mentioned, by both entry level people and also those from the enthusiast crowd.

We also know that ATI's HD4870X2 to be both powerful, and lets not forget its ability to run hot. When the 4870X2 video card came out the only true way on cooling this monster of a video card down, was by using a water block. While that does not bother most of us Enthusiast types of people, this limitation definitely put a big 'NO WAY' to the entry/average user. The end result was most of the end users ended up either putting up with the extremely loud fan on the 4870X2 video card (by ramping it up to 50-100%) or just dealt with the extreme heat this card produced, therefore shortening the life of this video card drastically.

How does Artic Cooling and the 4870X2 tie into each other? Well, heres a simple answer, Artic Cooling finally listened to our pleas for an after market cooler for the4870X2 video card. So lets give a good look at the new Air cooler from Artic Cooling the Accelero XTREME 4870X2.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4730 512MB video card review
Elite Bastards posted Sapphire Radeon HD 4730 512MB video card review

Sapphire's Radeon HD 4730 makes use of a 750MHz core clock speed on its reduced RV770 core, coupled with 512MB of GDDR5 clocked at 900MHz.

In keeping with its choice of GPU core, the Radeon HD 4730 features the same PCB length as other RV770-based parts. The usual pair of CrossFire inter-GPU connectors are present on the board, while power is provided by two six-pin PCI Express power connectors. Sapphire have strapped their own dual-slot cooler to the board - A cooling solution that we've seen on a couple of other Sapphire graphics boards in the past.

Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB Review
Bjorn3D takes a look at the Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB

Hard Drive suppliers have recognized this and have alternative 'Green Drives' available for those that want to have good performance, tons of storage, and keep utility costs down. To that end we're going to take a look at the Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB 5900 RPM drive that consumes only 3.88 Watts Idle and 6.88 Watts during drive operations. The idle power consumption on this 'Green' drive is barely more than some LED power lights you see on common electrical appliances (Some LEDS operate at 3.3w). Lower power consumption, great performance, entry level pricing, there's a lot to like about he Seagate Barracuda LP 2 Terabyte drive.
