Elgato Stream Deck XL Review

The gaming industry has boomed in the last 10 years and has truly started taking off since gamers began live streaming themselves playing a plethora of different games. It was quickly realized that after enough following is generated that online streamers could use platforms such as Twitch as a means of a stable income. This opened up the gaming industry further and created a brand-new avenue that gamers can take and aspire to travel down. Aspiring to be an online streamer is much like any job, it requires tools. Just like any good tool, it has to add a level of utility to a process that results in an aspired goal being obtained faster or more efficiently. Elgato's Stream Deck XL falls right into this category, as having one feels like having your own little desk best friend that has everything you know you will need for an upcoming live stream. It also works as a double agent for use cases such as simple program launch management, web browsing, aesthetic setup taste, basic Windows tasks and everything else in between.

Intel Tremont CPU Microarchitecture: Power Efficient, High-Performance x86

Late last year, at its Architecture Day event, Intel revealed a new, low-power microarchitecture, codenamed Tremont, that would power and array of processors and SoCs targeting products across the client, data center, 5G networking, and Internet of Things markets. While Intel did disclose the codename and show-off a Foveros-based SoC featuring Tremont -- codenamed Lakefield -- it did not dive deep on the microarchitecture or discuss its inner-workings. Today, however, at the Linley Fall Processor Conference that’s currently underway, Intel discussed Tremont in-depth...

MSI GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming Z Trio Review

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2070 Super launched not long ago, in July this year. The new SKU was released to counter AMD's Radeon RX 5700-series "Navi" graphics cards, which ended up faster than the plain GeForce RTX 2070. Unlike the RTX 2070, the RTX 2070 Super is based on the 13.6 billion-transistor "TU104" silicon since NVIDIA had maxed out the "TU106" with the original RTX 2070. The "TU104" is at the heart of the much pricier RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Super graphics cards.

The most interesting aspect about the RTX 2070 Super is that it's based on the 13.6 billion-transistor "TU104" silicon since NVIDIA had maxed out the "TU106" with the original RTX 2070. The "TU104" is at the heart of the much pricier RTX 2080 and upcoming RTX 2080 Super graphics cards. What this means to consumers is that most custom-design add-in card (AIC) partners would rather reuse their existing RTX 2080 board designs with a little cost-cutting on the VRM instead of spending money on developing and validating new PCBs. Another benefit is partners using heavy cooling solutions that were originally designed to handle the much hotter RTX 2080, and perhaps even the RTX 2080 Ti.

Silverstone SX700-G Review

If you visit LanOC often you might notice I love checking out and using SFX power supplies. Early on they were limited in power, heat, and even in options with most models not even being available with modular cables but over the years that has changed significantly. I even took a look at an 800-watt Titanium model just last year. But a lot of the innovation has been with the SFX-L form factor which is similar but not as small as the normal SFX form factor even though a lot of cases only support the latter. But Between Corsair and Silverstone big strides have been made in SFX as well like Silverstone’s SX700-G. It doesn’t have the same Titanium 80 Plus rating as the SX800-LTI but it does win in wattage per liter with an impressive 882 watts per liter. Today I’m going to check out the SX700-G and see what Silverstone has been up to in the true SFX form factor, check it out.

TP-Link RE300 Review

Mesh Wi-Fi kits have been picking up in popularity, and many people with large spaces to cover have turned to multi-node systems in order to create a seamless blanket of wireless connectivity. For those who aren't completely sold on mesh — or who don't want to take on the increased cost of a mesh system — TP-Link has created OneMesh, a relatively low-cost solution that sits somewhere between a router with range extender and a legitimate mesh system. I tried out the TP-Link RE300, one of just two range extenders with OneMesh capabilities, to see what it's all about and whether or not it's worth your time and money.
