5 things you should know about Windows as a Service

Windows 10 isn't really the last version of Windows. It might be the last version number though, because new features and improvements will come out as part of Windows 10 rather than as new releases you have to upgrade to. Some of those will be smaller fixes and updates; some will be larger upgrades, like the Redstone update expected in 2016. They'll be delivered through Windows Update and Windows Update for Business, something Microsoft refers to as Windows as a Service. But what does that actually mean?In this slideshow, we will answer that central question, and other queries you may have about Windows 10 along these lines…

Actionproof The Bumper Case for Apple Watch Review

The Apple Watch is more of a mini computer on your wrist than a standard wristwatch. Since electronics are way more susceptible to damage than a mechanical timepiece it is a worthwhile consideration to use some form of protection for the Apple Watch.

THE BUMPER is one such accessory from the folks at Actionproof. It functions as a shock absorber for the Apple Watch as well as abrasions and other forms of trauma. Since Apple uses Gorilla Glass on the Apple Watch Sport rather than sapphire crystal this makes that version more susceptible to scratches. As an owner of the Sport version I jumped at the opportunity to review this accessory.

Cooltek GT-04 Review

The GT-04 is one of the latest mid-tower cases from Cooltek, which offers plenty of interior space in order to build gaming systems. Apart from that there are quite a few neat little features, like for example a hot-swap bay and a reasonable price.

PAPAGO! GoSafe 520 Dashcam Review

In the past few years, a new trend has emerged that not only aims to help drivers document their travels, but provides video and audio evidence in the case of an accident. The use of dashcams is not a new concept by any means; we have all seen footage from law enforcement vehicles and those crazy Russian dashcam videos that are all the rage right now. PAPAGO!, a Taiwanese company established in 2001, is a leader in providing easy to use cameras that provide high quality imagery. While PAPAGO! has been focused on the European and Asian markets, they have recently expanded into the American market, and today they bring us the GoSafe 520 dashcam. This model touts what PAPAGO! calls Ultra WHD with a maximum resolution of 2560×1080, as well as more standard resolutions of 1080p and 720p. Hop on in and buckle up, as we take the PAPAGO! GoSafe 520 dashcam for a little ride.

PowerColor PCS+ AXR9 390X 8GB Video Card Review

Last week, AMD brought ‘new’ Radeon R9 300 series video cards to market that are essentially updates of the Radeon R9 200 series cards to ensure gamers have the performance they need be it for online gaming or in eSports competitors. The AMD Radeon R9 390X might not be the fastest card in fastest card in the stable, but AMD took their previous flagship video card that’s been battling NVIDIA’s flagship cards and gave it a few tweaks under the hood. Those tweaks are basically higher clock speeds and requiring 8GB of GDDR5 memory to be on all Radeon R9 390X cards. AMD was able to do this without increasing the cards Thermal Design Power (TDP) as they have the 28nm Hawaii GPU manufacturing process figured out and refinements over the years have allowed for higher clock speeds and improved efficiency. AMD believes that these improvements are enough to ensure Hawaii will be competitive in the market that is quickly embracing 4K and Virtual Reality (VR) gaming.

Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Analog gaming headset

The Roccat Kave XTD Analog is certainly built with gamers in mind, but it is quite sophisticated compared to an average gaming headset. Along with its understated styling and chunky earphones, it packs a lot of sophisticated hardware under the hood. Unlike most headsets which confine themselves to just a single driver in each earcup, this has two full size, 40mm drivers and a 30mm rumble unit in each.

Round-up: 12 Braswell-based Mini-ITX boards

In recent weeks Aewin, ASRock, BCM, BioStar, ECS, and MSI have collectively announced a dozen Braswell based Mini-ITX boards that are all able to run Linux. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

While there seems to be an endless number of Android phones on the market, for those of you shopping for one this summer are most likely only going to be looking at just a few. The perennially popular Galaxy S lineup being at or near the top of that list. This year Samsung introduced the S6 with two models (and just recently announced a third), you can pick from the regular Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. On top of wanting to see what the new Samsung phones had to offer, I also really wanted to take a closer look at the difference between the two phones. I spent a little time with the original S6 and then spent a bunch of time with the Edge to see what sets it apart and also to see what justifies its higher price point. So today I’m going to talk a little about my experience.

Synology DiskStation BeyondCloud Mirror 3TB Review

Anyone who follows the NAS game will likely recognize the name Synology, but we’d wager most home users aren't quite as familiar with them. That’s simply because Synology storage devices have typically targeted a more advanced crowd, such as readers of this website. If you had ever met someone who was running a Synology NAS at home, you knew right away they were an enthusiast, advanced user, neckbeard, etc. Newbies use more mainstream products, but hardcore guys and gals use Synology--or something like that.

Well, times are changing, and Synology is trying to get in on the “cloud storage” game with NAS drives that are pre-configured, plug-and-play, and accessible from any internet connection, so they should be tempting to anyone regardless of their technical chops. No longer will you have to install the drives and the operating system yourself. These puppies are ready to go right out of the box...

The MSI GT80 Titan Review: The Broadwell Gaming Laptop Your Desktop Envies

I was lucky enough to be on-hand when MSI launched the GT80 Titan at CES. It was a big event for them, and all of the MSI people were quite excited about the unique device they had come out with. Over the last couple of years, there has been a lot of traction in the enthusiast market for mechanical keyboards, and MSI decided it was time to put a fully mechanical keyboard into a gaming laptop.
