ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula Intel Z390 Motherboard Review

Part of the ROG (Republic of Gamers) product line from ASUS, the Maximus XI Formula is a high-end Intel Z390 motherboard option that combines support for the latest Intel processors with a host of premium features.

ASUS used the Intel Z390 chipset launch to enhance the existing design of their Maximus Formula board, reconfiguring the board layout with dual NICs, a GigE NIC and a 5G NIC, and moved the location of the integrated M.2 slots for better access and cooling. Further, they enhanced the design of the armor overlay to integrate RGB LED effects into its surface.

Crucial BX500 960GB SSD Review

Crucial's BX500 960GB is a slight departure from the smaller capacity models we tested last December. From a hardware perspective, the largest BX500 in the series uses a slightly better controller and introduces us to Micron's 96-layer 3-bit per cell flash.

High-Capacity USB-C Battery Pack Comparison and Review

A few years ago, it was difficult to find a USB-C battery pack capable of charging a MacBook at a speed of 30 or 45W, but with Apple and other companies increasingly embracing USB-C technology for everything from smartphones to laptops, high-powered USB-C battery packs have become more readily available.

Higher-watt USB-C battery packs are ideal for fast charging iPhones and iPad Pros, providing power for MacBooks and MacBook Air models, and even charging up a MacBook Pro when charging speed isn't an issue.

Microsoft HoloLens 2 is still not a consumer device

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Technical Fellow Alex Kipman (best title ever for a fellow who has a tech-related job) mounted the stage to announce that after four years, Microsoft had a successor to the HoloLens. HoloLens 2 is here, and it's less of a consumer device than ever. That's not a bad thing.   Next-gen improvements include a flip-up visor, lighter weight, more centered balance, and a new fit system that purports to make wearing the headset for long periods of time more comfortable. On the more technical front, the new version has double the field of view of the original, a new time-of-flight sensor, and new eye-tracking sensors.

MSI Vigor GK60 Keyboard Review

2019 brings with it our first MSI keyboard review in the form of the recently announced Vigor GK60. It is a full-size keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches for a solid base for gamers and does not break the bank. The addition of some MSI-specific features and software and hardware control over function and form means this is a keyboard you would want to know more about!

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Linux Gaming Benchmarks Review

Last week NVIDIA unveiled the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti as their first Turing graphics card shipping without the RTX/tensor cores enabled and that allowing the company to introduce their first sub-$300 graphics card of this new generation. I bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti XC Black graphics card for delivering Linux OpenGL/Vulkan gaming benchmarks of this TU116 GPU and have the initial results to share today compared to a total of 16 different NVIDIA GeForce / AMD Radeon graphics cards on the latest Linux graphics drivers.

OWC ThunderBlade Review

There are external SSDs, and then there is the ThunderBlade. This is the crème de la crème of fast external storage, and its produced by OWC, a company at the forefront of storage and Thunderbolt 3 accessories for Mac.
The ThunderBlade is OWCs fastest offering — a single drive provides storage up to 8TB and speeds up to 2800 MB/s read — and they can be daisy chained, set up in a RAID configuration, and they are silent.
Its admittedly overkill for some users, but if youre a creative professional who needs the best of the best, then the OWC ThunderBlade is one of the most impressive external storage offerings available today. Watch our hands-on video review for more details.

PC Specialist 16.1" Defiance V RTX Review

RTX 2080 Max-Q put to the test. 'Tis the season for GeForce RTX gaming laptops. Having unveiled its latest mobile GPUs back at CES in January, Nvidia has been adamant that consumers will be spoilt for choice, as laptop vendors prepare to unleash a wave of supporting systems.

We've already seen Gigabyte attempt to shoehorn the GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q into the premium Aero 15 X9, and today we turn our attention to UK-based system integrator PC Specialist, whose 16.1" Defiance V RTX touts immense graphics firepower for a more palatable sum of £1,999.

Phanteks P600S Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Phanteks are one of the most loved chassis brands out there. We think they’ve created some of the finest PC cases on the market today! However, some of them are a few years old now, such as the fantastic Enthoo Luxe Elite, and the tremendous Enthoo Evolv ATX. However, their P-series has gone from affordable to fantastic over the years, and the new P600S looks set to be the king of the range.

We first saw this chassis at CES 2019, and we were pretty impressed with what we saw there. However, opinions can change when you get one home, so I’m eager to bust this box open and take a much closer look at what Phanteks have to offer. Of course, I’m still fairly confident that they can deliver.

Viotek GN34C 34-inch Curved 1440p Ultrawide Monitor Review

In the realm of monitors ultra-wide displays a really popular for many reasons. For me an ultra-wide eliminates the need for more than one display. Basically I can have two windows open on the same display and it is just like having two separate monitors. Playing games on an ultra-wide is also very enjoyable as it feels much more immersive than a 16:9 display. Finally if you are a creator or visual artist having more screen real estate is a huge plus. I love stretching out the timeline in Adobe Premier across my entire screen! Today we are checking out a very affordable ultra-wide display in Viotek’s GN34C, which is a 34-inch curved display with a QHD resolution of 3440 X 1440p. Is this your next monitor? Read on as we find out!
