AMD preparing Ryzen 3 1200, mainstream 3.1GHz CPU

AMD hasn't provided any details on its mid-range Ryzen 3 range of processors, but the Ryzen 3 1200 is being teased with a base clock of 3.1GHz. We should expect the new Ryzen 3 1200 processor to have a TDP of 65W, while the first look at the Ryzen 3 1200 saw it running on an ASRock AB350M-HDV motherboard.

ASRock X370 Gaming K4 ATX Motherboard Review

Will the X370 Gaming K4 continue the Fatal1ty tradition regardless of the notion that Ryzen is terrible at gaming? With Ryzen forging its path, we're starting to get a few more AM4 motherboards, which means that we can evolve from AMD 970 chipset comparisons to a more level competition. We caught some flak from readers regarding reference data, choice of GPU, and limited depth in our review of the ASRock X370 Taichi.
Next up: the ASRock X370 Gaming K4. It's back to the Fatal1ty series and placing the focus back onto gaming.

Asus ROG Gladius II Review

Worth the premium over the original, award-winning Gladius? RGB lighting has become synonymous with PC gaming hardware and, like it or loathe it, the eye-catching illuminations are here to stay. Asus is one of many manufacturers eager to update its product range with synchronised LEDs marketed under the Aura umbrella.

A myriad of motherboards, graphics cards, desktops and peripherals are now Aura-certified, and a few classic fan favourites are being given an Aura upgrade. One example is the new Gladius II mouse, priced at £80.

AWD-IT Phoenix (w/ R7 1700X) System Review

Given that Ryzen 7 CPUs launched just over a month ago, system integrators have been quick to start building new PCs based on the Ryzen platform. The system in for review today from AWD-IT is one such example, as their Phoenix system is built around the 1700X chip and the Aorus AX370 Gaming 5 motherboard. With the inclusion of a GTX 1080 alongside the 1700X, could the AWD-IT Phoenix be the perfect Ryzen PC?

Early review of the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (6C/12T) published

By a Spanish language site which hasn't signed any NDA with AMD. Earlier this week we saw an early YouTuber video review of an AMD Ryzen 5 series CPU, the Ryzen 5 1400. Today another review has surfaced, this time of an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. Spanish language site El Chapuzas has published quite a detailed review with six pages in total including a plethora of charts and graphs. In an introductory pre-amble it is explained to 'whiners' that El Chapuzas hasn't signed any NDA with AMD "therefore we can publish this information before its official release". As a reminder AMD will launch Ryzen 5 CPUs on 11th April.

G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (DDR4 with RGB lighting)

The new range of G.Skill TridentZ RGB memory is simple to describe as it looks almost identical to regular TridentZ yet manages to pack in RGB lighting.

Take a really close look and you will see the G.Skill logo is carried on a plastic diffuser that covers the LEDs, instead of the aluminium heat spreader, however that is the only clue that this DDR4 memory packs four RGB LEDs on each module.

Gigabyte Aorus AX370-Gaming 5 Review

X370 comes of age. It has been a month since the AMD Ryzen CPU saw the light of day. Undeniably impressive in the multi-core stakes, the released quartet of Ryzen 7 chips make a solid case for being considered for your next performance PC build.

Yet it's arguable that a CPU is only as good as the platform it is sat on top of, and such thinking is what has previously shied many away from the FX chips whose supporting motherboards are long in the tooth and short of modern features.

That's largely changed with Ryzen, as the X370 and B350 chipsets, primed for Ryzen 7 usage, offer a feature-set that, on paper, is a solid match for Intel's Z270. However, early indications are that X370-based boards aren't quite there in terms of stability and robustness, underscored by multiple BIOS releases in quick order.

Tesoro Excalibur SE Spectrum Gaming Keyboard Review

A little over 2 years ago we took a look at Tesoro’s Excalibur Spectrum Gaming Keyboard and we quite satisfied with it as it received a 9 out of 10 score. Today we have another Excalibur Spectrum keyboard from Tesoro, but it is their Excalibur SE Spectrum. The big thing that separates this keyboard from the original is that it makes use of new optical switches. Designed in conjunction with Gateron the Tesoro optical switches use infrared senors as opposed to metallic contact you would find in mechanical key switches. This design should give you precise actuation and a response time of 0.1 ms. The Excalibur SE Spectrum is the first keyboard Tesoro is outfitting with these new switches. This keyboard also offers per-key RGB backlighting, spill-resistance, and even individual hot-swappable keys. Let’s take a look and see if this keyboard can compete with all of the mechanical switch keyboards out there...

Transcend Launches New PCIe M.2 SSDs: The MTE850 Series

Transcend has announced its first SSDs based on 3D MLC NAND flash memory. The MTE850-series drives are aimed at the higher-end of the market and promise up to 2.5 GB/s sequential read speed along with endurance-related advantages of 3D NAND.

Transcend does not disclose exact specifications of all its new MTE850 series SSDs, but only shows their pictures as well as performance numbers for the flagship 512 GB model. The images reveal a controller covered with an aluminum heat spreader, and the only contemporary controller that supports 3D NAND and comes with such a heat spreader is Silicon Motion’s SM2260 (which uses two ARM Cortex cores and has eight NAND flash channels) Technically the SM2260 can support LDPC ECC technology and 256-bit AES although this has to be enabled in firmware. At present, only Micron sells SSD-graded 3D MLC NAND to some of its partners, so it is logical to assume that the MTE850 drives use Micron. Transcend is the third company to offer an SSD family featuring 3D MLC and SM2260 after ADATA and Mushkin, so the drives are going to have rivals that offer similar performance and functionality.
