NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.92 adds 007 First Light path tracing and fixes 616.56 regressions
NVIDIA released GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.92 today, and it is a WHQL-certified build for Windows 10 and 11 that addresses several regressions from the previous release while adding optimizations for upcoming titles.
Three of the four bug fixes target issues introduced in driver 616.56. If you updated to 616.56 and suddenly found your virtual displays refusing to initialize or your RDP sessions rendering nothing but black rectangles, this build is the official fix. NVIDIA also patched intermittent flickering in web browsers caused by GPU acceleration conflicts.
Keep in mind that NVIDIA did not list any game-specific regressions for this cycle. The focus here is squarely on stability for remote access and streaming workflows, which had clearly taken a hit in the prior build.
Game and tech optimizations
The driver is Game Ready optimized for 007 First Light, Active Matter, Aniimo, WARDOGS, and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. 007 First Light receives a dedicated Path Tracing Update that enables fully ray-traced global illumination, reflections, and lighting in real time on supported RTX hardware. The workload is demanding, so NVIDIA's optimization targets high-end RTX cards, likely RTX 4080 or 4090 class and above.
Active Matter represents NVIDIA's push into physically based real-time fluid dynamics. The SDK lets smoke, fire, and water react dynamically to in-game environments with physically accurate results powered by GPU compute. It is the kind of technology that differentiates RTX gaming from traditional rasterized environments.
Aniimo and WARDOGS also receive optimizations. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS gets the latest updates to DLSS, Reflex, and Ray Reconstruction. Active Matter and Aniimo suggest NVIDIA is continuing to lock in developer adoption for its newer SDK features. The driver ensures compatibility with the latest DLSS versions deployed across these titles.

The download package clocks in at 990.85 MB. The installer covers both the graphics driver and the optional NVIDIA App.
The NVIDIA App is the modern replacement for GeForce Experience. It bundles driver updates, game settings optimization, and recording features into a single, lighter-weight client. You can opt out of installing the App during setup. The installer presents it as an additional option rather than a forced installation.
This is a solid maintenance release. The stability fixes for virtual displays and RDP are the kind of thing that keeps IT admins and streamers awake at night, so you will likely appreciate the bump. The 007 First Light path tracing support is a meaningful draw for high-end RTX owners.
