I am a legitimate owner of Empire Earth Gold Edition.

Empire Earth only works under XP SP2 when the user is logged in as ADMINISTRATOR. Other users get the error message "Please insert the Empire Earth CD".

Greetings /Karl from Melbourne

empire earth loads perfectly fine until it reaches the menu, from there the writing on the menu buttons are non existant and when ever the mouse is moved it creates a trail of where its been, like leaving the pointer behind permanently on the screen.

running vista premium
ati radeon x1300 pro with direct x 10

It can be installed, but it is not playable under Vista, I mean ANY Vista version. It doesn't work at all even if you run it in XP SP 2 mode.

I have a HP pavillion which has the necessary hardware to run this game. Doesn't work after installation even after changing compatibility hints(SP2 & administrator).Only result for my efforts of loading is:

Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Sierra\Empire Earth II\EE2.exe
abnormal program termination

EEIII is a poor relacement for this game. Please create a patch sierra for gods sake. I am sure that there is a programmer with the ability to do this.

Cheers,

Very annoyed customer

Make a patch sierra this game will NOT work on most vista systems along with many other games because they all, after being installed when trying to run them give the c++ error thing abnormal program termination and im sure people want to actually be able to go play their game on their computer

Solution to playing: Empire Earth: On Vista
To play it Rhight-click it and Left-click: Run As Administrator, and then wait for a few minutes.

I can play the game no problems by myself. Works just fine, don't have to run as administrator or anything or compatiability mode.

But when I try to direct connect, it does not work.

I turn off firewall, and my internet carrier does not block the ports needed for the game, but something with Vista will not let me connect to a friend.

Windows XP Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
8 Gigs of RAM
DirectX 10

I know the game has been out for the better part of a decade, but it's one of my favorites and wish they would still support this game.
