With Quake III Arena in Windows 64, you cannot install the game through the autorun launcher or by going into My Computer and double clicking the Quake III logo. Why is because the autorun launcher doesn't work under Quake III Arena and double clicking the CD-ROM drive in the hard drive give the following error "While the media is readable is has not been designed for the current system". To remedy this right click on the CD-ROM drive after the Quake III Arena disc has been put in, click on Open and double click Setup.exe. Also, remember to run the 1.32 Point Release afterwards.
