Fractal Design Define Nano S mITX Computer Case Review

One thing I have found sometimes hard to do is to maintain a conversation with a person for an extended period. For example, whenever I meet someone new, it usually starts with common questions asking about their name, current vocation, and sometimes about their day. Then you could move into other topics like hobbies, current events, or news, depending on how much you want to talk. However, you know you are out of ideas when you start talking about the weather, or repeat items you have already mentioned previously. Unfortunately, this can also happen to people you talk to almost daily. For example, I once told Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Kwan how the only things we primarily talk about are cars, politics, and APH Networks related items. There are also the infrequent times he gives me girl advice, or relates the girl advice to either cars, politics, or APH Networks, but it mostly falls in the former three specific topics of conversation. Thankfully, we generally have quite a bit to talk about and bringing up new things, even if they are within the same topics, and that refreshes the conversation. Thus today we have a somewhat copied and pasted chassis in the form of the Fractal Design Define Nano S. It has been two months short of a year since we reviewed the Fractal Design Define S, an ATX-sized computer case, perfect for allowing airflow and water cooling options. Now today we have its smaller version in the ITX form factor. So I have to ask, other than the size, what is new? Is this literally a "Honey, I shrunk the kids" moment, or will I have more to speak about in this review? Read on to find out!

Intel Genuino 101 Review

The Genuino 101, or Arduino 101 if you’re in the US, is Intel’s collaboration with the Arduino project. If you’re not familiar with it, the Arduino has attempted to do for hardware design what Linux and Open Source in general have done for software – open it up to everyone to be a creative producer rather than just a consumer. Since the project’s inception in 2005, hundreds of thousands of boards have been sold, with the total at 700,000 by 2013, and it’s likely to be in the millions by now. So when a heavyweight like Intel comes on board, too, you know Arduino “maker culture” has come of age.

MSI GTX 1080 & GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G Review

The boost clock speeds of the Pascal GPU from NVIDIA cycle the boost clock speed up or down as you hit power or temperature targets. I saw this with the Founders Edition cards and it happens on the MSI cards as well. The key here is that MSI's Twin Frozr cooling design is more effective at keeping the temperatures low and the clock speeds high to increase gaming FPS performance. It's a strategy that works. Using large Torx 2.0 fans with dispersion blade technology on the ball bearing fans, there is an increase in airflow of 22% over traditional fan blade designs. Couple that with the large heat sink with 6mm and 8mm direct contact heat pipes and you get an excellent cooling design that keeps temperatures in check, even under a heavy 3D load. Both the GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G and GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G showed significant cooling performance gains over the Founders Edition cooling solution, with much less noise. There is no doubt that MSI's Twin Frozr VI technology is a step forward in cooling performance that shows tangible results.
