Antec Nineteen Hundred

The Antec Nineteen Hundred takes the frame of the Eleven Hundred and pimps it with a bottom compartment, more I/O, extra fans, a splash of color, and an updated exterior. But is this hard-drive swallowing behemoth worth the extra cash you have to throw at it to call it your own?

Enermax iVektor Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Enermax is one of the best names in the business, having designed many successful chassis, power supplies and cooling products over years. They’ve proven to us here at eTeknix time and time again that they can make some great products, with some very competitive price tags and that’s a trend I hope to see repeated here today with the iVektor. There’s no skipping over the fact that the iVektor isn’t the most recent product from Enermax, but we missed out on it the first time and I was eager to see what it could do, as I particularly liked the unique aesthetics of the chassis when I saw it at various trade shows. The iVektor is targeted at the mid-budget gaming market, with a price tag that will get you a little change from £70 from most major retailers. It sports enough features to be versatile for almost any kind of system build, so let’s jump in and take a closer look.

The left side of the chassis has a large raised section, giving a lot of extra clearance on the interior. The panel is held in place by a pair of thumb screws and there’s a pull handle at the back for easy access.

Netgear D6300 AC1600 Dual Band Gigabit Modem Router Review

Nothing stays still in the electronics and computer industries at least not for long so something better always emerges not long after even the best model out there has rolled out of the factory. Of course that has its pros and cons since on one hand prices of early models get sliced making them a lot more affordable for mainstream consumers and/or manufacturers (if we're talking about components) but on the other hand you never get to have the best out there, not for long. Because of that it's quite unfortunate that manufacturers haven't focused much in the production of good ADSL/ADSL2+ modem/routers and that's actually something that has been in my mind for many years especially since ADSL/ADSL2+ is still the primary connection type via which people access the internet in many countries including Greece. Well Netgear always seems to come to the rescue with their solutions like the D6300 AC1600 Dual Band Gigabit Modem Router which we've been thoroughly testing for quite some time now.

NVIDIA Unveils Tegra X1 Powered SHIELD Console And Yes, It Runs Crysis 3

NVIDIA just wrapped up an event in San Francisco, where the Game DevelopersConference (GDC) is currently underway. The company unveiled a new Android TV streamer, game console, and supercomputer as NVIDIA’s Jen Hsun Huang calls it, all wrapped up in a single, ultra-slim device—the new NVIDIA SHIELD console.

NVIDIA's Tegra X1 SoC is the star of the show on the SHIELD Console. In addition to its relatively powerful 256-core Maxwell-based GPU, the SoC is capable of full 10-bit, 4K encode and decode at up to 60Hz. The combination of the Tegra X1's multiple ARM cores, Maxwell-based GPU, and video engine, make the device about twice as powerful and an Xbox 360, while consuming only about 1/5 of the power...

Sapphire Tri-x Radeon R9 290x 8GB Graphics Card Review

The AMD R9 200 range has been with us now for around 18 months, much longer than a normal graphics card range. AMD produced some very high-quality products here that allowed them to initially beat NVIDIA offerings and lately just fall short with the release of the GeForce GTX 900 range. To counteract this, AMD have recently cut the prices of most of its graphics card range and no pose an amazing performance vs price argument. In recent months, 4K gaming has boomed and most consumers are noticing a lacking performance at this resolution due to a shortage of VRAM. In most cases, most general games use below this amount, but some niche games, such as ‘modded’ Skyrim and GTA IV use around 6GB. To counteract this, AMD has allowed its sub-vendors to add an additional 4GB of VRAM to its R9 290x range, revealing the highest single core VRAM card to date.

Today we have the Sapphire Tri-x R9 290x 8GB, boasting high overclocks and some amazing features; this card should impress. We’ve recently had another of Sapphires 8GB offerings, the Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290x 8GB. This graphics card had given us a taste of how useful 8GB of VRAM is and it disappointed us with all of our benchmarking games only using 3.5GB VRAM maximum. This particular model gives us more hope, with newer games being released that hope to break into the 4GB+ realm, such as Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and The Evil Within both supposedly requiring 5-7GB. The Tri-x model differs from the Vapor-X model with its different cooling solution, colour scheme and the bundled Tri-x utility software

Western Digital 3.5″ Red 6TB NAS HDD Review

The Western Digital RED family of NAS drives has been on the market for a while, and it keeps growing. There are 2.5-inch 750GB and 1TB drives just as there are 1TB to 6TB 3.5-inch drives in the WD RED series.

The 6TB RED HDD was released last year and Western Digital provided us with samples to use for our storage reviews. So it is about time that I take one of them for a stand alone spin on the test bench. After all, there are a lot of other factors in play than just the hard disks themselves when we’re testing NAS devices and enclosures and it will be great to get some baseline figures for these drives.
