Pause before wave output

Anyone ever heard of this: occassionally before a wav is played (eg. IE's click when you click on a hyperlink, or Outlook's new mail notification) the system will 'lock' temporarily. I still have use of the mouse, but the applications are unresponsive for about a second.

Half-Life Server Crashes?

Anyone ever try running a server (not dedicated) with Half-Life? When ppl join after awhile I crashes with the msg WSAECONRESET or something like that? Does anyone have any ideas? Btw, does anyone know how to specify which LAN Adapter HL uses in refreshing the LAN servers? Because I want to set it to cable games, b ...

Hi, This question has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find anything with the search. I currently have Win2k Pro final installed on my c: drive. Now I would like to install Win98 on my d: drive (because I cannot use my scanner in Win2K ).

I installed the Liveware2k on a fresh completely reformated copy of Win2k and I thought all was well, all the programs started up! However, I tried to play an MP3 and I found that no sound was coming out of the speakers.

Restoring registry from repair console

Hi All, Can someone tell me how to restore registry files in the repair console? I selected ACPI and no my system won't boot, won't load last known good config, and won't go into safe mode. I backed up my registry before I did it but I can't figure out how to restore it now.

I wish there were some standards for deciding and submitting software compatibility. Many times do I see software marked as green (compatible), when in fact people have to do a bit or a lot of tweaking to get it to run under Win2k.

Random screen corruption playing AVI or MPGs

Occasionally I get total screen corruption(unusable) using Media Player on 2000 Pro while playing AVI/MPG files off the *cough* Disney news group on 2000. I've seen it happen on both my home and work PC, which ironically are both using Voodoo3 cards.

FlyVideo 98 FM Drivers won't install?

I own a Lifeview Flyvideo 98 FM TV Tuner Card and It works great under Win98. There are Win 2k drivers available on Lifeview's website. The Hardware Compatibility list said you could get the drivers there but nobody obviously tried them.

I have just tried to install and run Half-life under Win2k, but made a program error right away. Does anyone know if it helps up? Or is there any other way of getting it to work? It's ver. 1. 0 of Half-life, and build 2195 of Win2k.

How do I flash a bios in Windows 2000?

I am trying to flash a new bios for my mobo and I noticed that I cant make a boot disk with format a: /s, I tried to go into safe mode with command prompt and run the flash program but it gave some emm386 memory error.

How much ram should win2k take up ?

I was wondering how much memory win2k should take up according to task manager. It is about 100meg on startup for me, with just norton antivirus and serv-u running. but sometimes it will just up 130+ after a while even if nothing is running.

Does Windows 2000 supports the 3D Blaster Banshee card (this is the older one, about a year)? Getting ready to upgrade to Win2K, but not quite sure if all my hardware is supported. I checked the company web site and they say TBA for drivers, but I've seen elsewhere that drivers are available.
