Reformatting and NTFS

Can I just reformat a FAT32 drive and install Windows XP fresh using NTFS? Someone told me I would have to erase the disk first. Since formatting doesnt erase the format, info and partitions a possible conflict could arrise from a FAT32 disk being reformatted with NTFS over it.

I just installed myst 3 and the latest patch. . . (1. 22) when i get into the game and look around. . . . it's studders. . . like moves for 2 inches and then pauses. . . moves some more. . . pauses. .

i have just tried to back up spiderman with my liteon 4012s (40x12x48x)burner and my dvd rom (pioneer 16x slot). i tried using Clonly XXl and it detected no proction or read errors. i also tried other protection detectors and they all detected uknown protection i am using clone cd 4.

Promise RAID in A7V333 - help appreciated

Hi there, I have an Asus A7V333 motherboard with Promise RAID and I connected my 2 60GB hard-drives to the Promise IDE connectors. Doesn't matter if I use the drives as a RAID 0 array or each as an independent array (haven't tried RAID 1 array), when I try to install WinXP Pro (also tried RedHat Linux 7.

Developers can make Win9x games compatible with Win2K with ease. It's absolute crap that they don't because appearantly Win2K is a 'business o/s', well guess what it's a business o/s because it doesn't crashed every ****ing hour.

Is there any way to add a percentage of how many progs/hardware work for each os? Mabye a percentage on the main page. For instance the user logs on and see's that of all the software/hardware logged at NTCompatible that: 85% Games work in Windows 2000 40% Games work in NT4.

Had to adjust the Vcore up to 1. 570 for stability it would BSOD at default voltage. Zero crashs after 48 hours. Retail 1. 8a with stock HoF idle 36c/96f full load 40c/104f Kingston 1066 RDram I'm going to run it this way for a few days then change out the stock HoF and see how high it will go.

lately i've been noticing slow downs on my d: drive and i checked the ide properties and noticed this: Device 0 : UDMA5 Device 1: PIO mode I have a Maxtor 15gig on Master and IBM 40gig on Slave for IDE 1.

CDRW weirdness

Looks like I've developed another hardware prob, suddenly out of the blue. I have a Lite-On LTR-12101B CDRW, which AFAIK is supposed to use UDMA/33. Now all of a sudden it's on PIO mode, & my CPU useage goes to 100% when I do anything with the drive, whether burning a CD, or just transferring data from CD to HDD.

CDRW problems with XP

I am running a laptop with XP pro and a DVD CDRW combo. The inbuilt OS CDRW facilities are virtually useless, so I installed Nero 5. 5 on the laptop (which worked fine on my previous W2K desktop machine).
