Maxtor, Western Digital 1yr Warranty

Just saw that Western Digital is going 1yr warranty on it's Protege & Caviar drives. They can be upgraded to a higher warranty for some extra $$. The new Caviar SE is 3yr warranty Going to research a bit more but has Maxtor gone 1yr for ALL of it's HDs? Anyone know? Also there are rumours that Seagate is going 1yr too.

Hey there, I haven't asked a question in a long time, but this one doesn't make any sense to me. I booted my computer today, and Windows 2000 said it found new hardware. I thought this was a bit strange, but I went through the wizard, but it couldn't identify what it had found.

WMP9 error trying to stream

DVD ROM Drive issue

I'm having a problem with my toshiba sdm 1212 dvd rom drive and windows xp pro. When the drive is in dma mode 2 I get errors copying files from it and it will not play dvds or anything inserted. The error says something about an i/o error occuring.

Is thier a way to force XP to remember the folder view settings on the open boxes and on removable media folders? On normal local explorer windows it remembers its settings fine but for floppies, CD-ROMs etc it doesn't seem to remember.

I have a Seagate 40 gb baracuda hdd. i had Win2k and i tried to install Red Hat Linux. I couldn't adjusted swap partition which improves the speed of Linux. Also linux can run without swap partition.
