NT Frezzing on shutdown

Hello I hope someone can help here. Im running NT 4. 0 sevice pack 6a, and Netscape 4. 7. For some reason with in the last 2 weeks when I shut my system down at night it hangs. I then have to manually shut it down.

I just installed win 2k so i am asking a basic question. Where do i go to take off some of the programs that run upon startup? Not the startup folder, but the same type of thing like msconfig in 98. Thanks alot.

i am a newbie to windows 2000. . . . . i install win2k in dual boot whit winME. . . when i am going in system properties. . in the hadware tab i click on device manager. . it give me this message : MMC cannot create a node manager.

more than 150Mhz core for GeForce DDR ?

Hi I have Creative Labs Annihilator Pro (32MB DDR RAM) in my Win2000 computer. The current setting of my videocard is 150/340Mhz and I don't see any malfunction or disortion in 3D. The range of the NVIDIA driver is 105-150Mhz core speed.

Win2000 and Whistler cable speed

I've recently had an opportunity to try out Whistler on my machine. I'm using it in a dual boot config, with win2k. I also recently got a cable connection (finally) and after setting up my connection, I found that Whistler is almost 2x faster (in terms of download speed) than win2k.

Win2000 Safe Mode boot

Win2000 boots normally but when trying to boot in safe mode it gos through a list of drivers then I get the blue screen of death telling me that the cache on motherboard is defective. Does any one know how to cure this.

W2K runs really slowly

I just installed W2K Pro (pristine install) and now the machine is almost unusably slow. As I write this, I'm about five letters ahead of what I see, and I'm not *that* fast of a typist. I try to play a fullscreen mpeg at 1600x1200 and I get about 1 frame/sec.

NTFS or FAT32 on WD 8.4 gig with one partition and only Win2

I read at tweak3d that NTFS would be faster especially on large partitions. Is there any bad points if I convert my current FAT32 win2k to NTFS? Do any games or programs have problems with it? Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.

Hey-my warranty is gone. . and i'm bored. My compaq has no motherboard manual, so I can't do any hard jumper settings. . . so I'm looking for any software that can change my FSB and/ or my clock multiplier? WCPUid shows me as having a 498mhz with a 100mhz FSB PIII 500.

My desktop shortcuts and icons think that they can do whatever they want. I want to tell them that they can't once and for all, but how ? My Taskbar is along the top of the screen (where all sensible people have it) and the icons move whatever my screen resolution.

Well I've been getting really pissed off at my computer lately. Sometimes, when I boot the computer up, halfway through the boot process I'll get a stop error. Most of the time it says Couldn't find nv4_mini.

win 2000 is a little heavy is it tweakable just like win 98 or millenium?? without thousands of tweak programs running on backward of course is there registry tweaking with hiddens settings? (cache etc.

Sound probelm after 'sleeping'

does anyone have the problem that if u make ur computer 'sleep' and when u go in again to use it, u lose all ur sound and have to reset again to get the sound back? 2 Computers both have : Intel SE440BX2 Pentium III 700Mhz (100) LS-120 120 Mb (100MHz) Fujitsu 17.

Not sure if this is wise or not, I'll find out when I reboot. . but when I defragged, found a file called memory. dmp, the memory dump file, wouldn't defrag. I don't use a memory dump, so I deleted it, and freed up a nice piece of hd space.

When I configured my 10. 2Gig Western Digital Hard disk to NTFS, as a secondary hard drive ( to store data only) why did the total disk space become 9878 MB?? Please help. Thanks in advance. Abhijit.
