I have a Windows 98 SE machine on my network which we cannot upgrade to XP at the moment, but that is outside of this issue. We recently changed domain controllers and have delegated it to be the primary server for our SAV system.

Hibernation Problems

Ever since I got my PC I've hibernated it instead of shutting it down each time I am finished with it, but now it won't start up again! It goes into hibernation fine but when you switch it on again it restarts itself before returning to your desktop and says the previous boot attempt failed and gives me two options ...

Transferring files from USB Drive

I have a Windows 98 computer connected to the internet, an old windows XP system & a brand new windows XP system that aren't. I have previously downloaded files from the windows 98 computer onto an external usb hard drive, and transferred them to the old XP system via the usb drive with no problem.

MSVCRT.dll error...not cool =(

This is startin to piece me off. Friday I just did a whole system restore because i couldn't fix my Explorer fatal errors (caused by rundll32) or my AIM error (caused by MSVCRT. dll) and lo and behold, yesterday, 3 days after doing the restore, here comes the MSVCRT.

The yellow horn that loads on the taskbar disappeared, and I'm not too sure why. Now it's original dll files are getting errors, and sound doesn't work for me anymore. I tried up them, but they ask for a Windows 98 Second Edition CD, which I don't have and doubt I have ever had in the past.

System is a Dell Dimension XPS R400. It's been driving me crazy for 5 days & I really feel like hurting it, hurting it real bad. Anyway, I cannot get Windoze to complete an installation. I get to the very last reboot (well past the serial key entry) when the installer reboots the system.

Hey, when I open RPG maker on my pc with no internet connection it says could not get trial serial from server. I have tried connecting the computer to the internet but although it says it has connected (vie ethernet) it will not load any web pages and will not connect to the server.

Ok right this really wierd thing happened to my other pc. The pc has no internet connection and i dont transfer downloaded files from this pc to it. But after logging on yesterday AVG came up with a virus warning in the AVG folder (some dll file) so i thought i'll just run AVG and it will be cleared up.

My computer with windows 98 can only start up in safe mode.
