Hey all, A couple of years ago when I was building a 440BX system, a friend on mine who's very knowledgeable in such things told me that I could go up to 384MB of PC100 SDRAM and still keep 8ns access speed.

CD-ROM fails to work in W2K

My CD-ROM Drive in Windows 2000 has ceased to work correctly. I know the drive isn’t broken as it works fine in Windows NT4. 0 (I dual boot)but in windows 2000 it just says in the Device Manager – Device Status – Your registry might be corrupt – code 19 The Drive has a yellow exclamation mark and refuses to work.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the 'For testing purposes only' display in xp 2428, I know that you can lock web items but this makes the icons look ugly, is there any other way? Thanks in advance

I have a bp6, dual cellys 433 (not o/c), 384 MB Ram, the rest is not essential. I have 3 HD's in this machine 1 udma33 HD,1 ata66, and 1 ata100. The ata66 is on normal EIDE, as is the udma33 HD, a dvd, and a cdrom.

i am curious if windows XP personal or pro. version will be worth to upgrade to from win2k pro ? Like some of the games that didnt work in win2k pro to work in windows XP maybe. Like may nascar revoultion , twisted mental 2, and sim theme park hehe.

Ive been runnin XP here for awhile now, and for the most part like it alot but think the following should be addressed: 1) Make programs like Windows Movie Maker user selectable during the intitail OS install and un-installable at a later time if the user no longer wants or needs to use it.

Upgrading W2K to XP2446

Just tried to upgrade my W2k box with the new 2446 beta, but it didn't work. Not tragic, can do a full install but I wonder what goes wrong / if anybody has succeeded with an upgrade install and has some tips.

I just ran Windows Update for 2K which is on my D: partition. It said it had a few things to update including a device driver for my display adapter. fter running, it said that the display adapter had failed to be installed properly but the other had worked fine.

Ok so yesterday I downloaded the new 10. 80 win2k nvidia driver, and also the VIA 4. 05b apg drivers. All i can say is WOW!!! I nearly fell off my chair (literally) when i loaded up Counter Strike. Normally under win2k SP1 i would get about 30-40FPS at 1280 resolution using a Prophet2 64.

mouse pointer gone !

My mouse pointer keeps disapearing. I always hevt to shutdown, unplug and plug in my mouse. What the prob ? is it my mouse, logitech 'gamers mouse' older version, or my motherboard, CUSL2-C. .
