Win2k won't install programs...any suggestions?

I am running win2k pro final and for some reason everytime i try to run a setup. exe for any program it doesn't run. when it runs the install shield to begin setup it will get to 99% and just sit there, causing me to end task on it, or install shield won't even start, but when i check my processes setup.

Mixman Studio and Win2k

Has anyone been able to install this program in win2k? It give me an error about Windows NT when I try to install it. Its a problem with Install Shield©. I tried editing the setup. ins to make it not detect Windows NT but I just ended up corrupting the file.

how to install win2k without win98?

hello! I have made win2k bootdisk and want to just install win2k only, but every time after loaded 4 bootdisks, it appeared a error message, so i cannot install win2k, what could I do though?

Removing mouse drivers

Hey i got a logitech mouse, i installed mouseware 9. 0, and then game wheel patch, but my wheel still didnt work in UT, so i uninstalled it, and now everytime i boot windows, it says cannot find logitech mouse driver i hit cancel so it goes away.

I found this on the M$ DirectX Website. Is this update crucial for an NT4 system or do these updates already exist if you've installed the Microsoft Media Player 6. 4?.

Hello, So im looking at the processes running in Win2k and Im trying to figure out what some of these are for: SVCHOST. exe INETINFO. exe SERVICES. exe POPROXY. exe SVCHOST. exe they take up allot of ram and I want to know if there is something I can do about it.

128 Bit Encyption? Yes/No?

Hey, I'm wondering if its worth the bother to upgrade to 128 Bit Encryption? Does it slow things down a lot? I'm not really like buying junk with a credit card on the net or anything. .

How to remove the CD-ROM from search path?

I know I should have put this in the Other forum, but I don't think anyone would look there. Whenever I do a search off of the Start menu or any similar action (like Winzip extract), Windows 2000 pauses to spinup the CD and bring it into the path.

Direct X - Version 7??

Didn't DX7 ship with Win2k?? When I run the DXInfo tool. . . its telling me all versions are 5. OK I am officially confused. Can installing older games that ship with previous versions of DX have overwritten the 7??.

Hey, the place I work is basically beta testing Win2K by putting it on every IS machine there is, however we're having a bit of trouble with GroupWise. We run Novell predominantly. While I absolutely hate Groupwise.

clicks when listening to a song...

sorry if this is a bit general windows problem but i would really appreciate any help on that. . . is there any way i could disable listening to all these clicks when e. g. going to a previous/next page in explorer and a the same time listening to my favorite mp3s in Winamp? thanks.

How to enable UDMA on NT4 on a K6-x system

Hi I have NT4 installed on my system (AMD K6-3 400Mhz, 128Mb RAM, SOYO 5EHM mobo (VIA MVP3 chipset) Quantum Fireball EL 7. 6Gb has UDMA support)and I wonder if NT4 would benefit from the VIA 4in1 drivers (to enable UDMA33) for the VIA MVP3 chipset.
