Intel, very quietly, posted an Adobe PDF all about the Itanium and its IA-64 roadmap on its FTP site just a week ago.
And one of the slides claims that IA-64 architecture will survive for an amazing 25 years. Lest we forget, Intel has said in the past there will be Itanium machines available from June onwards this year, which means that behind the scenes everything must be happening at 64-bit speed, albeit running at 800MHz.

News regarding the combination Matrox G400 - SoundBlaster Live when used
with an ALi V based motherboard (like Asus P5A).
This particular combination makes the computer hang everytime a 3d
application or game is used. ALi is working on a new Win2000 AGP miniport
driver. As a temporary solution you might use the attached patch, which I
got from ALi support. Here are the instructions:
1. Install Matrox 5.00.007 beta drivers (which oddly run much faster than
newer ones)
2. Create a DOS boot diskette
3. Create a blank disk and copy the patch on this disk
4. Boot the computer with the dos boot disk
5. Switch diskette and run the patch.
6. When Windows 2000 starts you can remove the diskette
This fixes Direct3D for me, but Half-life 1.0.1.6 crashed in OpenGL.
I have bus mastering enabled (in Matrox PowerDesk) and "K6 write allocate"
as well as "Frame buffer posted write" disabled in the bios, as recommended
by ASUS and Matrox.
My system:
Asus P5A rev. 1.04 bios 1010 beta 2
AMD K6-III 450 MHz
128 MB PC-100 RAM (2x64)
Matrox G400 32MB DH 300 MHz bios 1.5.022
SoundBlaster Live! with LiveWare for Windows 2000 WDM drivers
Windows 2000 Professional English build 2195 with latest updates
Best greetings

Tweak3D has posted a general Windows 2000 tweak guide.
According to internal Microsoft documents, the company will pull Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) from the market and re-release a fixed version called Office 2000 SR-1a. The company recommends that customers running Office 2000 on Windows 2000 systems that have been upgraded from Windows NT 4.0 not install SR-1 at all until the SR-1a update is released. Such systems have had Internet Explorer-related problems with searching and hyperlinking. And when you add this issue to the problems with SR-1 previously discussed in WinInfo, it´s pretty clear that the Office team has done it again: SR-1 is simply of unacceptable quality for production environments.
