NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.88 Launches for Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day Beta, and More
The WHQL-certified build drops July 28 with carries over the recent Halo hotfix and targets three new titles at launch.
The long-awaited WHQL release is finally here. NVIDIA has pushed GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.88 to its download servers, and it lands July 28 alongside the full release of Halo: Campaign Evolved. If you're running an RTX 50 series card, this is the one you want. The preceding hotfix from July 22 smoothed out a lot of the crash issues, but this full WHQL build actually locks them down.
It's new driver day, and the jump from the 595 and 596 numbering scheme to 610 feels massive at first glance. That's just the new cadence for the RTX 50 lineup, and it tracks perfectly with how often NVIDIA is dropping patches these days. Base family release hit July 7. A hotfix followed on the 22nd. Six days later, the 610.88 WHQL build arrives.
Optimized for Launch Week
Three titles get the official Game Ready nod. Halo: Campaign Evolved gets the full recommended treatment, which makes sense since 343 Industries finally shipped its Unreal Engine remake today. The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day open beta is scheduled for August 6, and NVIDIA is already pre-tuning the driver for it. Mistfall Hunter rounds out the list as a dark fantasy extraction ARPG that's gotten similar optimization work. Head here to download the standalone installer. It clocks in at 934 megabytes.
Known Issues and Fixed Bugs
The headline fix addresses the Halo crash on RTX 50 series GPUs. That stuttering issue drove a lot of people to file support tickets last week. NVIDIA took the solution from the 610.82 hotfix and baked it into the official WHQL package. Path of Exile 2 gets a DX12 rendering fix for those weird long pauses after extended play sessions. It also just sits in here as a carried forward patch. Silent Hill F lands with general stability bumps. If you're pulling Strange Brigade or Zombie Army 4 into the fold, expect a fix for the crash that happened when exiting the game with the NVIDIA App overlay running.
DX11 owners with G-SYNC monitors will appreciate the Smooth Motion frame pacing improvement. That one needed a hotfix before. Now it's part of the main driver. As one outlet noted, this is the driver you want if you're planning on hitting up the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake that's releasing today to standard edition owners.
There's a quirk worth flagging before you install. "Prefer Maximum Performance" power management mode sometimes reverts or gets ignored entirely. NVIDIA says it's still being investigated. You might want to double check your power settings after the install. The package also bundles CUDA Toolkit 13.3, PhysX 9.23.1019, HD Audio 1.4.5.7, and the DCH NVIDIA Control Panel 8.1.969.0.
The installer is rather chunky for what it actually does, though the bundled CUDA toolkit probably saves you a separate download if you're juggling AI workloads on the side. NVIDIA officially notes that this update "provides the best gaming experience for the latest new games supporting DLSS and RTX technologies." You'd already know that from the release notes, but it never hurts to have the company confirm it.
The driver covers every current RTX 50 desktop and mobile chip, plus the entire RTX 40, TITAN, 30, 20, and 16 series lineup going back to the MX450. Windows 10 and 11 only. No Linux support in this package. Keep in mind that the R610 driver family spans both the hotfix and WHQL tracks, so make sure you're wiping the old install if you're coming from the 595 series. A clean install via DDU is usually the safest move when jumping numbering generations.
