W2K installation problems....

I was running W2K 2195 for 2 months. . then i decided to format and reinstall just to clean things up. . . After which i was unable to install w2k on the freshly formatted drive. . I used w2k's boot disk and everytime after the fourth disk i get a hard drive corrupt error.

I have Win2000 and a Hitachi CM751 monitor, however in Monitor Properties it says default monitor and I cant change anything. There is no monitor in device manager either. In the registry it shows the CM751.
New Bios for Epox 7KXA

Everyone that has an Epox 7KXA board go over to and download the new bios. It fixed all the problems I was having with my sound card popping. .

I have been experimenting with different drivers for my Linksys nic (lne100tx). After fooling around I have reinstalled the original built-in driver that comes with win2k a few times. In device manager it is listed something like LNE100TX Fast Ethernet #4.

Anyone get a vesa mode display going on 2000? i can run Zsnes in modex or anything other than vesa, but i want transparancies and all the goodies that come with vesa mode. anyone have any answers? suggestions?.
Soundblaster PCI128 recording problem

I am using Windows 2000 Pro with a soundblaster PCI128. The problem is that when I try to record in Stereo (sample rate doesn't matter) the result is two identical channels. When I move the balance from mixer the channels are showing the same level all the time.

Confusing hard disk-NT installation problem

Posted this at anandtech but haven't found the solution yet. Gotta IBM Deskstar ata66 7200 rpm 13. 5GB hard disk. Installed it on Abit BP6 in the ata66 socket. Installed 95b. Worked fine. Then I installed the ata66 drivers and it still worked fine.
Win2K on ThinkPad 600X?

Has anyone installed Win2K on an IBM ThinkPad 600 series? I'll be getting one with Win98 and am wondering if I'm taking too much of a chance by installing Win2K at the outset. Tony.

I installed Win2K on my IBM ThinkPad 600X, and I have to take back most of the bad things I've said about Win2K. Installation was flawless. Only problem was with the sound not working. With some research I found that I could get sound working by a little trick turn off mute.
Having problems on NT4 with display resolutions

I have a V3 and whenever I try to change or test resolutions on NT4 (matching my graphics card's and my monitor's refresh rates) I get a blank screen (black actually) and the OS stops responding and I have to reboot.
Shutting down and restart problems!

I have a problem with shutting down and restarting my win2000 computer. Does it have to do with my abit be6-2 mobo? It just gets stuck when you shutdown and restarting does the same? Does anybody know whats wrong?.

CDR software in win2k?

Hi, I'm running Win2k Server on a computer here at work (trying to get it to work as a backup for our NT4 PDC, but that's another story). This computer has a SCSI CDR drive that's worked great under NT4 Server, but EZ CD Creator won't install under 2000.

I've PII 266 with pl97 Asus and when i had Win98 the Pc shutdown ok (Automatically) but now the shutdown is manually. Why is it? Can i change my current chutdown? Thanks. .

I'm poking through my services, and I see one called Windows Time. I am driven to assuming that the purpose of the services is not unlike TimeServ which was in the NT4 ResKit. I would like to use this to keep my system clock accurate, but I can't figure out how to configure it (point it to the time server).

Has MS bothered to fix the "sticky keys" on W2k?

There has been lots of talk about the sticky keys problem with some games on W2k. . . has Microsoft (or anyone else) provided any solution? Some problems appear to be PS/2 mouse related but that doesn't seem to be the case with Rally Championship 2000.
