Master Broswer error in Win NT Server 4

In the event viewer on Win NT 4 Server there is an error with a Win2000 Pro workstation saying that there is a Master Browser error, and may require an election. Is there a way to tell the server that it is the master browser or tell Win2000 Pro to stop conflicting?.

Slower transfers in Win2k (broadband etc...)

Having a strange problem. A friend installed Win2k on his computer (specc at the end). With Win2k he gets slower downloads on his boradband then in 98 and MW. We even tried to hook my computer up on the broadband with the same results (My is runnin Win2k).

Trident 4DWave pci sound card under Win2k...

I have one Trident 4DWave pci sound card, but it lacks win2k drivers, but have nt4. 0 drivers. It could mean I could install it with this drivers? Yes, I know win2k drivers are write from scratch, but if win2k do not provide native suport to this card, maybe nt or win9x drivers could work?.

Hey im trying to get this webcam to work but whatever streaming software I try it says it cant initialize Microsoft WDM Image Capture device. I went to control panel/multimedia/hardware/Video Capture Device but I dont have anything installed there.

I am having the wierdest problem ever on my Win2K machine. For some wierd reason whenever I use my USB modem to connect to the net, the machine goes all juddery and slow (think 8Mb P60 trying very hard to run Office 97).

ata raid performance question

I have two ata/66 harddrives and I want to raid them together to make a super drive (for storage, as I have ultra160 serving as the boot device). If i get an ata/66 raid controller, I feel this would be inadequete and would not let me get the full performance possible.

Everytime I try and install Windows 2000 Pro, I get a Disk I/O error 00083 what does this mean??????? I have a P3 500 256 megs of ram I815 chipset and a Qauntum 10 gig hard drive. Thanks, falcon26.

I've read two entries about getting MotoRacer (1) to work on NT. The first speaks of a registry entry, the second suggests using setwin95. cmd. Neither of these are clear to me in their use. . . . can someone please walk a rookie through getting the best option to work? Thanks!.

Tried using App Compatibility Tool to install TimeLine under Windows 2K (SP1). Told it Win98, then ran SETUP. EXE Immediately get msg that MSVCRT. DLL is not compatible with Win32s. SETUP also does not detect that DirectX 8 is installed - wants to install v7.

Disk I/O Error 00008001 what the hell does this mean???????

One more time here: I try and install Windows 2000 Pro on a P3 500 and a Quataum 10 gig hard drive. I boot from the Cd-rom and it starts to install then it gives me this error: Disk I/O Error 00008001 What the heck is wrong???? I have tried swapping memory, with brand new Micron Memory no change.

Hi, I messed up setting in the services and stopped and disabled too many services, after a reboot, I have no sound, and the computer became very slow. Now when I try to enable any of the disabled services, I cannot enable the service.

Problem running Win2k Games and Programs

My new computer is a Thunderbird 1ghz soyo sy-k7vta via kt133 board 128mb ram GeForce2 mx card My original system was running ME and I had no problem running games with it. I just switched over to 2000 and now my games are running very choppy and the computer even seems to be running slower.

Just got a new Sun (Trinitron) GDM 5410 21 inch monitor and it doesnt detect a signal from Voodoo2 card, yet will detect straight from SIS. Any ideas? Win ME (but looking like I will go W2K in near future).
