I have installed Windows XP Professional on three computer systems, and there is one consistently annoying bug which I would like to remedy. When setting up an Internet Service Provider dial-up connection, the password can be saved with the configuration similar to earlier versions of Windows.

I have downloaded ATI's capture driver for the card as stated on their site. I have installed the drivers and Windows XP is still saying its a new multimedia controller. The system is a P4 runnig winxp HOME.

winxp explorer.exe how to remove zipped files shown in folde

One thing that annoys me is that in the folders tab in windows xp explorer, it shows. zip files along with the folders. is there any way to make it only show the folders like in win2k,winme,98 etc. .

Is there anyway to run Borland DPMI modules inside Win32? Is there a way to convert a Borland DPMI module into a standard DOS module, etc? I am not familiar with Borland C or whatever Borland language compiled programs.

I don't know if windows is supposed to do that, but i noticed it put the pagefile on my d drive by default. i know everyone say it's better to make a pagefile on another drive than the one who has windows on it.

IDE drives Identified as SCSI by XP

I find it strange that XP identifies my IDE hard disk and IDE CDrom as SCSI devices. . . tho they both function ok. Anyone else have this occur? Hello! Today I recived this error in my Dial-up properties window. Sice my restore points feature is not enabled, I really have no idea what to do. My system somehow works perfectly, so I am really not about to do a fresh install again.

I use The Playa 0. 6. 6 to look my divx. I can look these properly, but when I try to move forward into a divx, by moving the position indicator cursor, I receive each time this error message: This application must close.

getting use of msn messenger for groups other than admin

wonder how i can enable msn messenger to be used by users in groups other than admin. It appears in start menu for them but doesn't seam to load. All users from administrators group can use and access with no problem.

'Access violation 0xC0000005' and BSOD in W2K

I've been having a complete nightmare trying to get my computer stable under 2k for ages now. . certain games i. e shogo or UT based games (especially Deus Ex) lock up the machine (black screen) on startup or crash on exit with '0xC0000005 access violation' errors (sometimes happens with IE6 too).

Someone put xp on my computer. Unfortunately it didn't work out, so I got him to format my hard disk ©and reinstall '98, which works a treat. The problem is. . . . I now have all these Found. 000,001 etc folders and a System Volume Information folder on my second drive (d) with over 1.

Networking XP Pro with NT 4.0 Workstations??

Our office has a small network with a Compex Microhub/8 TP1008C and four NT 4. 0 Workstations (No Server). I recently purchased a new machine which has XP Pro on it and gave it the same workgroup name as the NT 4.

Why is the activity light on my cable modem blinking?

It is hooked up to my Win2k Server machine. My cable modem activity light is always blinking. I am not sure what is sending data over my modem. I checked my startup and there is nothing out of the ordinary running.
